2024 Mazda CX-5 launching soon in Malaysia; here’s what to expect

KUALA LUMPUR: Bermaz Motor is all set to launch the all-new CX-5 facelift in Malaysia very soon. The official distributor of Mazda cars dropped a teaser of the upgraded SUV on its social media handle with a caption that reads “Something sleek, powerful, and extraordinary is about to hit the streets of Malaysia. This January 30th, we unveil a mystery that's set to redefine your driving experience.”

The teaser not only revealed the new CX-5 launching date but also showcased the redesigned front fascia of the SUV. The upcoming model features a new three-dimensional grille with a textured mesh pattern and redesigned headlights. There is also a new signature wing that extends outwards from the front grille. Further differentiating the facelift model from its predecessor is a fresh pair of tail lights and new alloy wheels. 

While the automaker has not revealed any interior shots of the new local-spec CX-5, we can refer to the global model for an idea. As per that, the SUV may come with redesigned seats offering occupants greater stability and Mazda intelligent Drive Select drive mode that enables the driver to change comfort and stability settings with one touch of a switch. Wireless Qi phone charging tray is also likely to be on the list.

As for infotainment, we can expect a 10.25-inch touchscreen mated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a 10-speaker surround sound system.

In terms of mechanical setup, the upcoming 2024 Mazda CX-5 is likely to retain the ongoing options, including 

• A 2.5-litre SKYACTIV-G turbo petrol engine that produces a maximum power output of 228 bhp and a peak torque of 420 Nm. 
• A 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol unit delivering 162 hp and 210 Nm
• A 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol mill good for making 192 hp and 257 Nm
• A 2.2-litre turbo diesel mill which kicks out the 173 hp and 420 Nm of torque 

Coming to the safety department, here the SUV is expected to feature the upgraded i-Activsense suite including a new Cruising & Traffic Support.

Well, for the exact specifications, we need to wait for the new CX-5 launch, which is just a few days away.
