Exterior
Dubbed as an electrified streamliner, the new Hyundai Ioniq 6 features a sleek design with clean, simple lines and a pure aerodynamic form. According to Hyundai, the car’s electrified streamliner typology and a cocoon-like interior constitute a unique silhouette that marks a new era in the world of electric mobility.
The car has a sleek yet functional aesthetics with an ultra-low drag coefficient of just 0.21. The credit goes to the low nose, active front air flaps, wheel gap reducers, slim digital side mirrors, wing-inspired rear spoiler with winglet, boat-tail structure, and bumper separation traps.

Interior
Unlike the exterior, which does have a resemblance to the concept, the interior has nothing to do with it. With all joy-stick controls gone, the Ioniq 6 cabin looks almost similar to the Ioniq 5, featuring the same dash with two 12.0-inch displays, a familiar-looking steering wheel, a compact climate control panel, and 64-colour ambient lighting. However, we can see a unique element and that’s a bridge-type central console offering convenient and generous in-car storage.
Reflecting the brand’s commitment to clean mobility values are the sustainable materials used in the EV. These include a range of stuff made out of recycled plastic bottles and fishing nets. Also, the paint is derived from vegetable oils.
Powertrain
While Hyundai has not yet spilled beans on the Ioniq 6 drivetrain details, the car is expected to get a choice of single or dual electric motors, coupled with a 77.4kWh battery pack. It is likely to offer a driving range of 500 km.
However, the automaker has confirmed the EV will have bi-directional charging that can even supply power to a house.
Launch
More details on the Ioniq 6 is expected to come near the global debut, which is scheduled for July 2022. Post that, it will go on sale in South Korea, the U.S., and the UK next year as a 2024 model.
