2024 Honda City Hatchback facelift now open for booking - New front and rear look, same powertrains

KUALA LUMPUR: Honda Malaysia is gearing up to launch the updated City Hatchback in Q2 of 2024, with the company now accepting bookings nationwide. This follows the model's success in Malaysia since its debut in 2021, having sold over 28,700 units. The new version aims to continue this trend with a refreshed design and enhanced features, paralleling the diverse offerings seen in the Thai market.

For the Malaysian market, the facelifted City Hatchback enhances its visual appeal and functionality, sporting a more dynamic and aggressive look in the e:HEV RS variant. This model highlights new design elements such as a honeycomb front grille, sleek rear bumper garnish, and side sill garnish, complemented by stylish Berlina Black 16-inch alloy wheels.

Under the hood, the vehicle remains powerful with the 1.5L e:HEV powertrain producing 109 PS and 253 Nm of torque, while the petrol versions continue with the 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC engine, featuring 121 PS of power and 145 Nm torque ensuring a blend of performance and fuel efficiency.

The interior of the City Hatchback, much like its sedan counterpart, should retain a familiar layout with some subtle yet practical updates. In the e:HEV variants, the traditional rear power outlet has been upgraded to two USB-C charging ports, enhancing connectivity for modern devices. Additionally, these models now feature a conveniently placed small inner pocket behind the front seats, designed specifically for storing smartphones, adding an extra layer of practicality for passengers.

Safety and technology have also been upgraded across all variants. Honda SENSING, which includes advanced driver assist systems like Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN) and Low-Speed Follow (LSF), ensures enhanced security and convenience.

The introduction of the facelift model in Thailand also brings cosmetic updates such as new bumper designs, updated grille, and modern connectivity features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which we are all hoping to be the same in Malaysia.

Honda Malaysia’s Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Hironobu Yoshimura, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, noting the City Hatchback's position as a top seller in the non-national segment and its reputation as Malaysia’s premier hatchback choice. With the upcoming launch, Honda aims to attract young professionals and adults who value a blend of advanced technology, style, and practicality in their vehicles.
