2024 Ford Ranger StormTrak lands in Malaysia; limited to just 200 units

KUALA LUMPUR: Teased earlier this month, the Ford Ranger StormTrak has finally made its way to Malaysia. It is a limited-edition version of the pickup truck positioned between the Ranger WildTrak and Platinum variants. 

Sime Darby Auto ConneXion, the sole distributor of Ford vehicles in Malaysia, is offering only 200 units of the Ranger StormTrak, priced at RM 181,888 (on the road without insurance) in Peninsular Malaysia and RM 188,288 (on the road without insurance) in Sabah and Sarawak.

Touted as the upgraded form of the Ranger WildTrak, the StormTrak offers a blend of “rugged capability, premium features, and unparalleled technologies” that cater to the different lifestyles of bold adventure seekers.

On the front, it features a Stormtrak-exclusive grille with an H-graphic and black surround. The front bumper is kitted with a gloss black element and a Race Red accent bar running all around its lower half. The Race Red inserts can also be found on 20-inch alloy wheels finished in an Asphalt Black matt shade. Exclusive decals and the Ranger Stormtrak badges further confirm the vehicle's unique identity. 

The automaker also introduced a few first-in-class features with the Limited Edition Ford Ranger StormTrak for enhanced functionality. These include - 

• New Auxiliary Lamps to illuminate dark off-road trails
• Zone Lighting to brighten the vehicle's surroundings
• Cargo lights for convenient loading and unloading

The pickup also comes with an innovative Flexible Rack System and Swing-in-Place Roof Rails, which you can easily adjust with just one hand. It can carry up to 80 kg of stuff while moving (like bikes or camping gear) and 250 kg when parked (like heavy equipment), making it great for both adventure and heavy-duty work. 

Like the exterior, the pickup's cabin has red accents. It features Race Red stitching on the dashboard and seats, which also get an exclusive StormTrak Logo and Miko® suede inserts.

Powering the Ranger StormTrak is the same tried and tested 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel, which kicks out a maximum power of 210 PS at 3,750 rpm and a peak torque of 500 Nm from 1,750 to 2,000 rpm. It comes mated to a 10-speed AT, sending power to either the rear or all wheels via a part-time 4×4 drive system. 

In conjunction with the launch of the new Ranger trim, SDAC also introduced its online booking platform, which allows customers to book all the Ranger and Everest models online.
