2024 BMW X2 debuts with fresh styling and tech upgrades

KUALA LUMPUR: BMW has pulled the wraps off the all-new second-generation X2 compact crossover. The latest model boasts fresh styling, a bag full of new technologies, and three drivetrain options. The global premiere of the new BMW X2 will be held at the upcoming Japan Mobility Show 2023 in Tokyo.

    In terms of design, the new X2 gets a unique hexagonal kidney grille mated to the BMW Iconic Glow system and new headlights. The Adaptive LED Headlights are available as an option with a matrix high beam. The car features a slim, coupe-like silhouette, upright flared wheel arches, new tail lights, black high gloss roof rails, and 21-inch wheels. 

    The optional M Sport package adds more aggressive bumpers, while the M Sport package Pro brings on board an extended M High-gloss Shadowline exterior trim, M rear spoiler, M lights Shadowline, and M Sport braking system with red calipers.

    Inside, the 2024 BMW X2 comes equipped with a twin display, comprising a 10.25-inch instrument panel and a 10.7-inch infotainment unit that runs on the latest BMW Operating System 9. The standard seats are upholstered in vinyl, also known as "animal-free Veganza." However, the top-spec model features Alcantara seats and an Alcantara dashboard. Also part of the kit are -

    Coming to the engine options, the X2 sDrive18d is powered by a 2.0-litre Inline-4 turbo diesel mill producing 150 hp and 360 Nm. The X2 sDrive20i runs on a 1.5-litre Inline-3 Turbo, MHEV unit which is good for making 170 hp and 280 Nm. The top-spec X2 M35i xDrive comes equipped with a more potent 2.0-litre inline-4 turbo unit, generating 300 hp and 400 Nm. All engines come paired with a 7-speed Steptronic transmission. 

    The BMW X2 will be offered in two solid and eleven metallic paint finishes, including the new Fire Red metallic.
