2023 Nissan Altima facelift gets an updated face & feature kit

It seems like Nissan is on a roll this week, as not only did the automaker open booking for the new Serena in Malaysia but also introduced the Altima facelift. While you can find the information on the former here, this article discusses the latter.

The Nissan Altima has been around for some time, and the recent facelift gives the D-segment sedan the much-needed visual and feature update. The facelifted model will go on sale in the US market in the fall, followed by other regions.

Let's now discuss the all-new 2023 Nissan Altima in detail, starting with the variant options that will be offered.

2023 Nissan Altima: Variants

The Altima facelift will be offered in no less than eight trim options, namely: 

• S (FWD)
• SV (FWD)
• SV (AWD)
• SR (FWD)
• SR (AWD)
• SL (FWD)
• SL (AWD)
• SR VC-Turbo (FWD)

2023 Nissan Altima: Powertrain

The Altima facelift will be offered in two engine options, including -

• A naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre DOHC direct-injection mill is available in two tunes. The FWD setup generates a maximum power of 188 hp and a peak torque of 244 Nm. In AWD layout, on the other hand, it pumps out 182 hp and 241 Nm of torque
• An SR FWD trim exclusive 2.0-litre VC-Turbo four-cylinder with multi-point fuel injection and electrically-powered actuator. It makes a maximum power of 248 hp and 370 Nm of peak torque

The drive, in both the above-mentioned engine options, is sent to the wheels (depending on the drivetrain) via an Xtronic CVT unit. The SR variants come with the added benefit of paddle shifters.

The Altima variants with the brand's Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD) setup automatically distributes to the wheels depending on road and driving conditions.

2023 Nissan Altima: Design

On the outside, new to the Altima facelift benefits from several visual upgrades that enhance the sedan's look. Part of the new design kit is -

• Updated and sporty-looking Nissan V-Motion grille with the brand logo
• Unique insert and black chrome finish on the grille (limited to SR variants)
• New LED headlamp with DRL integrated turn indicators

• Two-piece, angular taillamps
• Dual exhausts
• Aluminium-alloy 19-inch or 17-inch wheels (depending on the variant)
• Two new exterior hues, Garnett Pearl Metallic and Grey Sky Pearl

2023 Nissan Altima: Interior

Though the sedan's cabin largely remains unchanged, it still benefits from a few inclusions like -

• New dual-stitch fabric design (SR variants only)
• Revised instrument panel finish
• Steering wheel with current brand logo
• A 7-inch instrument panel
• Dual-zone climate control
• Zero Gravity seats
• Eight-way powered driver's seat
• A new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system
• Android Auto & Apple CarPlay connectivity
• WiFi hotspot
• Door-to-door navigation
• Wireless phone-charging pad (SL & SR VC-Turbo)

Also, part of the interior connectivity kit is a BOSE Premium Audio system, nine speakers positioned strategically, Amazon Alexa connectivity, Active Noise Cancellation, and a range of NissanConnect services.

2023 Nissan Altima: Safety

The new Altima's standard Safety Shield 360 suite included several worthy features - Lane Departure Warning, Automatic High-beams, Rear Automated Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.

The range-topping SL and SR variants also benefit from the ProPILOT Assist driver assistance suite of features, including an around-view monitor, a forward-facing camera & radar, active keep assist, traffic sign recognition, and adaptive cruise control.

2023 Nissan Altima: Price

Nissan has not yet revealed the 2023 Altima price; however, with all the improvements, the sedan is expected to retail more than the existing model.
