The new look of the CX-8 comprises a new front grille housing a mesh pattern instead of horizontal slats, which seems inspired by the Mazda CX-60. The new headlights merge neatly with the chrome framing and incorporate L-shaped daytime running lights.
Also new for 2023 is a clean front bumper with a reshaped lower air intake, a faux skid plate, and no fog lamps. At the rear, we can see a redesigned bumper paired with a similar lighting signature housing L-shaped elements.
Mazda has also updated the CX-8’s colour palette with the addition of a new Rhodium White Premium Metallic colour tone.
Among the cabin upgrades available for the all-new 2023 Mazda CX-8 are -
- Wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity (Android Auto is still wired)
- New USB Type C ports
- Redesigned front seats offering better pelvic and back support
- A remote window control system, which allows the opening and closing of the windows via the key fob
Speaking about driving-related changes, the latest CX-8 benefits from the new Cruising and Traffic Support, which enable the vehicle to brake, accelerate, and maintain lane position at low speeds in congested areas. Also, part of the upgraded handling kit is revised springs and dampers offering better body control and optimisation of the accelerator pedal.
The mechanical lineup of the SUV remains the same with the three engine options 2.5-liter normally-aspirated Skyactiv-G, 2.2-litre Skyactiv-D, and 2.5-litre turbocharged Skyactiv-G. All drivetrains are mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox, which can be optioned with either all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive.
Information as to when the new CX-8 will come to Malaysia is not yet available.
