KUALA LUMPUR: It seems that Honda is on a spree to update its SUV lineup. We have seen the upgraded forms of the HR-V and BR-V, and now it is CR-V's turn to get a new avatar. The automaker has just dropped the first teaser of the upcoming CR-V, showing the car's new front and rear-end styling.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
When will the 2023 Honda CR-V debut?
The 2023 Honda CR-V global debut will happen in the US later this year. What to expect from the 2023 Honda CR-V?
The upcoming Honda CR-V will be more stylish than before and powered by a more advanced hybrid system. As we have already seen the new CR-V through leaked images (given below) that appeared on the internet earlier this month, the official photos came as a confirmation. So, here’s what we know so far about the 2023 Honda CR-V -
More stylish than before
The upcoming sixth-gen Honda CR-V will be more stylish than its predecessor, thanks to a more stylized lower fascia, slim LED headlamps, a new hexagonal mesh grille and L-shaped bumper corners. The side mirrors are now mounted to the door panels. At the rear, there are new tail lights and redesigned tailgate section that offers the Japanese SUV a Volvo-esque look. Overall, the car looks sharper on both ends with dark accents.
More advanced hybrid powertrain on board
While releasing the teaser, Honda confirms the arrival of a more advanced hybrid system offering a sportier drive. The ongoing model in the US comes equipped with an i-MMD hybrid system incorporating a 2.0-litre normally aspirated mill that works as a generator to power electric motors. As for 2023, the automaker might raise the power numbers with a bigger battery to increase zero-emission driving capabilities.
Apart from the hybrid CR-V, Honda is expected to offer the non-hybrid trims with the same turbocharged 1.5-litre inline-four generating a power output of 190 hp and a peak torque of 242 Nm. As for the transmission, the same continuously variable automatic transmission is likely to be on board either with front- or all-wheel drive. Honda defined the new CR-V as more rugged and adventurous.
More hi-tech cabin
Neither Honda nor the leak reveals any interior shot of the upcoming CR-V; however, we can expect a whole new cabin kitted with all modern bits.
Launch details
The revamped CR-V will hit the US market this summer, with deliveries expected to be commenced in the fall.
