The new Civic Type R benefits from an upgraded engine and 6-speed manual gearbox along with the improved suspension and braking setup. The automaker has confirmed that the upgraded 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine under the bonnet of the latest Civic Type R dishes out a maximum power of 315 hp at 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 420 Nm at 2,600 - 4,000 rpm. That means, almost 9 hp and 20 Nm more than its predecessor.

The braking system has also improved with front brakes now featuring dual-piece rotors.
The new hot hatch comes with four driving modes, comprising an Individual mode that enables drivers to pick and mix their desired setups for the engine, steering, and damper settings.
"Type R is very important for Honda as the pinnacle of our factory performance and an irreplaceable brand that enables enthusiasts to experience Honda's racing spirit, and seek the ultimate in speed and driving pleasure," said Hideki Kakinuma, global Civic Type R development leader.
