2023 Ford Ranger Platinum arrives in Malaysia; check full details

KUALA LUMPUR: Sime Darby Auto ConneXion, the sole distributor of Ford vehicles in Malaysia, launched two new models at Bamboo Hills in Kuala Lumpur earlier this morning. We've already covered the first model, the Ford Everest WildTrak, and now it's time to spotlight the second one, the Ford Ranger Platinum. 

Malaysia is the first market to receive the Ranger Platinum in the ASEAN region. It sits at the top of the vehicle lineup in the local market and takes the pickup segment to new heights with a combination of capability, versatility, unique styling, and premium features offering customers “outstanding comfort” and “supporting their active lifestyle and family needs.”

Let’s know the 2023 Ford Ranger Platinum in detail - 

Price  

The 2023 Ford Ranger Platinum is priced at RM183,888 (on the road without insurance). Included in the price is a five-year/160,000 km warranty against manufacturing defects, which is expandable up to seven years and 200,000 km. 

Exterior 

The Ranger Platinum distinguishes itself from other Ranger trims with the help of several exterior enhancements, including - 

• A unique front grille with silk chrome trim
• Matrix LED Headlamps with auto dynamic levelling, LED daytime running lights, LED tail lights (first-in-Ranger, best-in-class)
• ‘PLATINUM’ badging on the hood

Engine

Under the hood, the pickup incorporates a 2.0-litre bi-turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine, which cranks out a maximum power of 210 hp and a peak torque of 500 Nm. The power is sent to all four wheels through an electronically controlled part-time four-wheel drive system, combined with a 10-speed automatic gearbox and an e-shifter.

Safety

Parts of the advanced safety net are - adaptive cruise control with stop-go functionality, active park assist 2.0, autonomous emergency braking with cyclist, pedestrian, junction traffic support, evasive steer assist, reverse brake assist, rear cross-traffic alert, lane keeping assist and lane centring assist
