Price
One really needs to have much deeper pockets to drive home the 2022 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS as its price starts from RM 1,550,000. This is approx half a million more than the retail price of the standard Cayman GT4.
Engine and performance
The Cayman GT4 RS comes equipped with a 4.0-litre naturally-aspirated inline-six engine, which generates a maximum power output of 500 PS and a peak torque of 450 Nm with a redline of 9,000 rpm. The same engine can be found under the latest 911 GT3, where it cranks out 510 PS and 470 Nm. However, in comparison to the Cayman GT4, the RS-spec model delivers an additional 80 PS and 30 Nm of torque.
The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission offering shorter ratios for faster acceleration. It accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.4 seconds (0.5 seconds faster than the standard model) and from 0 to 200 kmph in 10.9 seconds. Not to forget, it completed the 20.832 km Nürburgring Nordschleife in just 7:09:300 minutes. The top speed is rated at 315 kmph.
Suspension & Braking
The RS treatment comprises a number of chassis enhancements, such as ball-joint suspension mountings, anti-roll bars, stiffer springs, and adaptive Bilstein dampers. All these together reduced the ride height by 30 mm and offer higher adjustability in the areas of camber and toe.
The sports car rolls on 20-inch forged aluminium center-locking wheels paired with cast-iron brake discs. Customers can also opt for Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) carbon ceramic brakes.
Exterior
The exterior of the Cayman GT4 RS boasts a comprehensive aerodynamic pack, including an adjustable front diffuser, a restyle front spoiler lip, new front fenders, a massive swan neck rear wing, and a bigger underbody diffuser.
Also part of the kit is several elements made up of CFRP (carbon-fibre reinforced plastic)m including the front bonnet, fenders, and rear wing. This along with simple door panels, reduced insulation materials, and thinner carpets led to weight savings of 35 kg. The car tips the scales at 1,415 kg and the incredible power-to-weight ratio is rated at 353 hp/tonne.
Interior
The interior is kitted with a steel roll cage and bucket seats with a six-point racing harness. Most interior surfaces of the track-focussed Cayman including the dashboard, steering wheel, door cards, and roof lining are wrapped in the brand's Race-Tex material.
