2022 Peugeot Landtrek: What to expect?
According to the recent RHB Investment Bank analyst report, Peugeot is set to introduce a slew of new models in Malaysia next year. One of them is the brand’s pickup truck Landtrek introduced in February 2020. Jointly developed by Groupe PSA and Changan Automobile of China, the pickup is a rebadged version of the Changan Kaicene F70. It is currently on sale in selected Latin American and northern Africa markets where it rivals against the likes of the region-specific models like Volkswagen Amarok and Renault Alaskan.

LED truck bed Illumination via 12V socket, LED tail lights, chrome roll bar, hard top glass, and aluminium wheels are expected to be on the exterior kit of the upcoming pickup truck.
Interior
Inside, the Landtrek is likely to have a dashboard design reminiscent of the brand’s 508 sedan, featuring a two-spoke steering wheel. On the feature list, it may get a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a 10GB hard drive, a digital instrument panel, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support, automatic dual-zone air conditioning, protective mats, modular rear seat bench, and 7 handles in the passenger compartment.
Engine specifications
In the global market, Peugeot offers the Landtrek with two engine options - 1.9-litre VGT diesel delivering a maximum power output of 150 hp and a peak torque of 350 Nm, and a 2.4-litre turbo gasoline unit making 210 hp and 320 Nm. The former is mated to a six-speed Getrag manual gearbox while the latter comes with a choice of a six-speed Punch automatic and Getrag MT. Both versions are available in two- and four-wheel drive guise. As for the Malaysia-spec Landtrek, we expect the same engine options on cards.
Safety
In terms of safety, the upcoming Peugeot Landtrek is likely to be equipped with six airbags, an electronic stability program, hill descent control, lane departure warning, trailer swing control, ASR, 360 parking cameras, two Isofix points on the rear, and so on.
Besides the Landtrek pickup, Peugeot local distributor Bermaz Auto Alliance Sdn Bhd (BAASB) is likely to launch the 2008 SUV and facelifted 508 next year in Malaysia.
