With the aggressive teaser campaigning and opening of order books, we can assume that the 2022 Myvi launch is around the corner.Perodua introduced the new Myvi as the Next Standard model that indicates an overall improvement in the car, be it design, tech, convenience, performance, or safety. So. let’s discuss what all we can expect from the upcoming version of the hatchback after taking into consideration the automaker’s statements, teasers, and the car’s spy shots.
Redesign exterior
The new Myvi will have a youthful design that will let you go in style, says Perodua. However, no official images are yet available. But, no worries, the spy shots can tell us the whole story. As per that, the revamped hatchback will feature a larger and deeper front grille, with a slim chrome bar joining the slightly tweaked LED headlights.
The front bumper also looks new with sharper contours around the downturned air intake. At the edges of the bumper, we can see new vertical LED daytime running lights replacing the old round fog lamps. To match the new front design, the rear end also gets vertical vents at the bottom. However, the alloy wheels appear to remain unchanged at 15-inch.
Besides these tweaks, the car will be getting new colours viz. Electric Blue, Ivory White, Lava Red, Granite Grey, Glittering Silver, and Cranberry Red (exclusive for the AV trim).
Updated interior with new features
Perodua has shared a couple of interior shots of the Myvi facelift, which displays a familiar dash with not-so-familiar equipment. It gets a new instrument cluster with a fresh multicoloured LCD in the middle and red accents. The cluster is teamed up with a new steering wheel borrowed from the Perodua Ativa. The latter is fitted with a whole lot of buttons suggesting the Myvi will have a power mode function, an advanced safety suite just like the Ativa, and also a voice control button for the upgraded infotainment head unit, which also seems adopted from the compact SUV.
Other interior upgrades we can figure out of the teasers are red accents for the AC vents, and a big housing for the pair of stereo cameras on the top of the windscreen, with a built-in dashcam.
Better fuel economy and new transmission
The 2022 Perodua Myvi will be available in five variants - two 1.3 G and three 1.5-litre models, including 1.5 X, 1.5 H, and top-spec 1.5 AV. This means the slow-selling 1.3L manual trim will be discontinued. While the 1.3-litre 1NR-VE continues to produce the same level of outputs at 95 PS and 121 Nm, its fuel economy has gone up from 21.1 kmpl to 22 kmpl. The 1.5-litre 2NR-VE also delivers the same 103 PS and 137 Nm of torque.
Although engines remain the same, the new Myvi is expected to get the Ativa’s D-CVT gearbox in place of the ongoing 4-speed automatic. It combines belt and gear drive for better performance.
Advanced safety features
Perodua has announced that the AV, H, and X trims of the upcoming Myvi will benefit from the latest Perodua Smart Drive Assist system. It will offer Level 2 semi-autonomous driving capability with functions like adaptive cruise control and lane centring assist. Standard kit is likely to include four airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, vehicle stability control, traction control, parking sensors, hill start assist, and a reverse camera.
2022 Perodua Myvi price
On account of new tech and advanced safety bits, the increase in the 2022 Perodua Myvi price is obvious. The new price range starts at RM 45,700 and goes all the way up to RM 58,800, which means a hike of around RM 3,000 to RM 6,000 over the pre-facelift model. The mentioned prices are on-the-road, without insurance, and inclusive of the SST rebate that has been extended to June 2022.
