The latest Serene shows a clear departure from the previous model in terms of design. Grabbing all the attention is the new full-length V-motion front grille that covers all the central air intake. It comes with chrome inserts which give a jewel-like impression and is flanked by new split headlamps. On the edges of the restyled bumper, the L-shaped inserts are positioned, which are bigger and aggressive.
The new Serene runs on 16-inch (15-inch as standard) two-tone alloy wheels, and at the rear, it is kitted with the new LED tail lights offering a wider look through its outward curve.

Engine and performance
Under the hood of the new Nissan Serena lies the same 2.0-lite twin CVTC (Continuously Variable Valve timing control) engine generating 150 PS of maximum power at 6,000 rpm and 200 Nm of peak torque at 4,400 rpm. The power is sent to the wheels via an XTRONIC CVT paired with Adaptive Shift control for a powerful drive with class-leading fuel economy. The latter is rated at 14.2 km per litre.
Contributing to the energy efficiency levels is an upgraded Eco motor that manages the idling stop system and a new Dual Arm Tensioner, which controls optimal tensile force and reduces friction, power loss and increases fuel efficiency.
Safety
While the engine specs remain unchanged, the safety gears of the MPV get some significant improvements. It now comes equipped with advanced active safety bits that one can expect from a modern people-hauler. Included in the Smart 360-degree Safety Shield are -

- Blind Spot Warning
