2022 Nissan Pathfinder SUV revealed in the US market
KUALA LUMPUR: Nissan has been teasing the arrival of its redesigned Pathfinder SUV for the last few weeks alongside the all-new Frontier pickup truck. And yesterday, the Japanese automaker has finally revealed the updated versions of these iconic models in the US market. This debut is notable as an important next step in Nissan NEXT's global plan aimed to transform its product lineup as well as its business and company culture.
Talking about the new Pathfinder, the SUV is re-invented from the ground-up and thus looks more rugged and far more modern than the predecessor. On the front, it features a brand new styling highlighted by a V-motion grille treatment, wider stance, blocky LED headlights, slim daytime running lights, and a shorter overhang. At the rear end, the SUV is adorned with slim LED tail lights, a "boxed out" liftgate, and bold, satin chrome PATHFINDER lettering.
Getting inside, the cabin of the eight-seater Pathfinder is all modern with hi-tech enhancements like a 12.3-inch digital dashboard, 10.8-inch head-up display, nine-inch touchscreen center display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, and new ambient lighting. To further enhance the luxury appeal of the SUV, Nissan offers seven interior themes with brushed bronze metallic accents. For seats, the customers can choose between woven cloth, leather, or premium quilted semi-aniline leather.
Besides, Nissan packs the cabin with acoustic laminated glass, and thicker second-row windows, and also increased door and floor insulation to reduce the NVH levels.
Powering the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder is the same 3.5-litre direct-injection V6 engine capable of generating 284 hp of maximum power and 351 Nm of peak torque. However, the automaker replaced the sluggish CVT with an all-new nine-speed automatic transmission. Also new is a dual-pinion electric power steering system and larger tyres that have been added for better handling and a sportier feel. The driving modes on offer are Standard, Sport, Eco, Snow, Sand, Mud/Rut, and Tow.
Nissan claims that the new Pathfinder has the best towing capacity in its class, which is 6000 pounds enabling the SUV to tow boats, camp tents, as well as trailers.
Along with styling and mechanical updates, Nissan also brings on board Nissan Safety Shield 360 as standard, which covers features like automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, high beam assist, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and rear automatic braking.
Also, the SUV gets a ProPilot Assist system that combines adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist in the lower trims, while in the full-fledged version, it is linked with the navigation system to predict freeway curves.
The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder will hit the US dealerships this summer, however, the price of the SUV is yet to be announced.
