New Maserati Levante S is more stylish, hi-tech, and safer

KUALA LUMPUR: Last week, Maserati introduced us to its new SUV named Grecale, which sits below the Levante in the brand's lineup. While the latest model looks absolutely stunning and packs a bucketload of tech, the ongoing Levante is no less. The latter just received an important upgrade in the local market and we can say the new Maserati Levante S is more stylish, more hi-tech, and safer compared to the version it replaces. Here, we have full details on the substantial changes -

Exterior

The exterior changes start right away with the front grille; the new imposing grille pays tribute to the brand's historical models, such as Tipo 60 Birdcage. Depending on the trim, it features a tuning fork design in chrome or Black Piano. The more comprehensive, more muscular rear end gets the new rear light clusters with a boomerang shape inspired by Giugiaro's 3200 GT. The new styling elements gave a unified identity to the SUV. 

Interior

Making the new Levante more hi-tech and elegant are the following introduced bits : 

• Frameless 8.4-inch central screen with improved resolution, graphics, and visual effect 
• 7-inch TFT instrument cluster with redesigned analogue rev counter and speedometer
• Replacement of the plastic elements with anti-dazzle flat glass covers over the instruments for a more high-tech look 

Safety

Maserati has also updated the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) pack for the 2022 Levante. It now includes Active Driving Assist (ADS), a "hands-on" function intended for use on any well-maintained road, which can activate at speeds up to 145 kmph in line with the Adaptive Cruise Control.

Engine

No changes are available on the mechanical front. This means the SUV continues to get energy from a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 mill that delivers a maximum power output of 430 hp at 5,750 rpm and a peak torque of 580 Nm from 2,000 to 4,750 rpm. It is coupled with a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic gearbox, Q4 Intelligent AWD, and a rear limited-slip differential. The setup allows the Levante to hit the century sprint in 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 264 kmph.

Price

The new Maserati Levante S price starts at RM 808,800.00 (on-the-road, without insurance). Included in the price is a 5-year Standard Warranty coverage with no mileage restriction.
