2022 Lexus NX coming to Malaysia: Here’s what we know so far

Earlier today, Lexus Malaysia announced the soon arrival of the all-new Lexus NX in the local market. The automaker's social media post read, "The All-new Lexus NX F SPORT & All-new Lexus NX Luxury are open for booking today." With this, the NX SUV enters its second generation, and we couldn't be happier.

Lexus first introduced the second generation NX SUV in the Australian market, where it is offered in four variant options. As for the upcoming Malaysia-spec model, the car would be available in two variants - F-SPORT and Luxury, both powered by a petrol engine.

Let us now discuss the upcoming SUV in detail and see what is all offered -

Striking design

The Lexus luxury SUV in the pictures looks super aggressive and modern. One of its most interesting design elements is the spindle grille that emphasizes the car's bold presence.

The F SPORT variant gets a distinctive criss-cross F Sport mesh pattern at the front that sets it apart and embarks excitement and sportiness.

Largest-in-class touchscreen

The new NX comes equipped with a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment display which is the largest in the class. It offers crystal clear imagery and vivid colours, all at par with a smartphone. As expected, it comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

New & powerful engine

The new NX F SPORT is powered by Lexus's new 2.4-litre turbocharged engine that offers an exciting blend of a sporty and sophisticated drive.

Strong safety kit

Both the new NX variants come equipped with Lexus Safety System+ suite of driver-assist features that boost the driver's confidence on the road. The suite includes - A pre-Collision System (PSC) with New Pedestrian Detection and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) with Stop & Go Function.

While Lexus Malaysia officially confirms the abovementioned information, there is no harm in looking at the Australian-spec model for more.

Platform

The second-generation Lexus NX sits on its Lexus Global Architecture; it claims to offer 30 percent greater rigidity over the previous-gen NX model. Thus, offering the SUV enhanced control and handling.

Engine

While the NX F-SPORT is confirmed to be powered by a 2.4-litre mill in Malaysia, the NX 250 Luxury is expected to get a naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre unit generating maximum power of 204 hp along with a peak torque of 243 Nm.

Bold styling

Apart from the distinctive grille on the F SPORT, the upcoming NX SUV, like its Australian counterpart, is expected to get a 3-eye projector quadruple LED headlights with an Adaptive High Beam System and aerodynamically efficient one-piece rear combination light.

Convenience

While the 14-inch infotainment system is a given, the Australian-spec model also benefits from ambient lighting with 64 colour choices, including 14-pre defined tones. The lighting strips are embedded in the SUVs footwell, door panels, and centre console.

The Malaysian-spec NX is also expected to get hands-free power back door, e-latch door opener, 9.8-inch multimedia screen (Luxury grade), 'Hey Lexus' voice assistant, steering wheel with touch tracking operation & temperature settings, colour head-up display, air-con system with remote connectivity, deodorising & pollen removal clean air-filter, and Lexus Climate Concierge with S-FLOW control (directs the air-flow to occupied seats).
