2022 Kia Carnival: Know the 11-seater grand utility vehicle in PICTURES

Earlier this year, Bermaz Motors, under Dinamika Jaya Motors, launched the all-new Carnival in Malaysia. The 11-seater luxury car is offered in a single variant, priced at RM 196,341.

Many call it an MPV, a segment with the image of being dull and boring. However, that is not the case with the 2022 Kia Carnival, as the automaker calls it a GUV rather than an MPV. The phrase GUV represents ‘Grand Utility Vehicle’ and perfectly represents its grandeur both in terms of proportion and features.

Let’s now get to know the 2022 Kia Carnival in detail -

The new Carnival is a super stylish vehicle, and as Kia says, it is a perfect ‘companion for picturesque moments’. At the front, its futuristic headlamps (dual-LED with auto on/off function with auto-levelling) and tiger-nose grille grab attention.

The sleek body contour serves an aerodynamic purpose, and the expansive windows contribute to the cabin’s openness. Supporting this GUV are 18-inch alloys

At the rear, the broad dramatic stripe of the combination taillights gives this people’s mover a luxurious new design vernacular.

A good example of the car’s smartness is its power sliding doors that offer easy entry and exit to rear passengers and smart power tailgate. Also, all doors get closed and looked at with one smart-key button.

The new 11-seater Carnival offers the utmost comfort at every single seat. Also, its various seating configurations make every journey fun, flexible, and accommodating.

The new Carnival comes equipped with a 12.3-inch capacitive touch-screen with Apple Carplay & Android Auto Connectivity. The user can choose the audio source, tune in to radio stations, and adjust the audio quality to taste.

Like all modern cars, the Carnival also comes equipped with a smartphone wireless charger. The charging pad in the wireless charging tray bin charges compatible phones wirelessly.

Enabling the driver to stay focussed and informed with all the key driving information is the 4.2-inch supervision information panel.

The 2022 Carnival is powered by a Smartstream 2.2-litre turbo, CRDi, 4-cylinder, DOHC diesel engine, making a maximum power output of 199 hp at 3,800 rpm along with a peak torque of 440 Nmat 1,750 to 2,750 rpm. The drive is sent to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic E-Shift gearbox. Other inclusions are a drive mode selector, paddle shifters, and higher torsional rigidity.

The Carnival comes with seven airbags as standard, including the driver, driver’s knee, front passenger, two front-side, and two side curtains. They help protect the occupants and reduce injuries in the event of a collision. Other safety gears are - ABS with EBD & BA, electronic stability control, traction control system, multi-collision brake control, auto door lock, auto-hold function, rear occupant alert, hill-start assist control, blind-spot collision warning, rear cross-traffic collision-advance assist, and a surround-view monitor.

The new Carnival showcases more built thanks to the use of formable steel in crucial areas that help the chassis better disperse collision forces. Also, the 3rd gen platform standardized the steering, powertrain, chassis, and cabin floor arrangement. Thus resulting in a more spacious cabin along with improved handling and stability.
