2022 Jaguar F-Type comes with supercharged V8 mill only

KUALA LUMPUR: As Jaguar aims to be all-electric by 2025, it continues its efforts to slim down its cars, and the latest model which gets such an update is the F-Type. The automaker recently revealed the updated sports car and surprised everyone by ditching the supercharged V6 and turbocharged inline-four in favour of the supercharged V8 mill. Yes, the sole engine option for the sporty Jag is V8 now.

The 2022 F-Type simplified range now consists of two models - entry-level P450 and the top=spec R. They will go on sale in the US market next month at new price tags.

Jaguar offers the milder P450 as a coupe as well as convertible, both powered by a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 mill generating a maximum power output of 450 PS and a peak torque of 580 Nm. Mated to an electronically controlled active differential as standard, the model touches the century sprint in just 4.4 seconds in both all-wheel and rear-drive types. The top speed is rated as 285 kmph.

On the contrary, the F-Type R continues with the same mechanical setup for the 2022 model year, which means the output numbers remain unchanged at 575 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Here, the power is channelled to all four wheels, which allows the sports car to run from zero to 100 kmph in 3.5 seconds only before hitting a top speed of 300 kmph.

On the styling front, the 2022 F-Type gets an updated front grille, slimmer LED headlights with redesigned daytime running lights, and a new front bumper. Also on offer would be an R-Dynamic package to spice up the Jag. Included in the pack are unique badges, 20-inch split-spoke wheels with a dark grey finish, a gloss black front splitter, side sills, and heated door mirrors. The car will be available in 11 exterior colors along with a dozen customised SVO paint finishes.

The cabin of the new F-Type gets Windsor Leather and satin-finish Noble Chrome trimmings along with Monogram stitch patterns on the seats. Optional R-Dynamic package adds aluminum center console and "R-Dynamic" badges throughout the cabin. The list of hi-tech niceties comprises a 12.3-inch configurable gauge cluster, 12-way electric memory front seats, an electrically adjustable steering wheel, and more. 

The 2022 Jaguar F-Type price for the P450 Coupe starts at $71,050 (RM 292,894) while for the F-Type R, customers need to shell out an amount of $104,350 (RM 430,170).
