The 2022 Ford Ranger price in Malaysia starts at RM 108,888 and goes all the way up to RM 168,888.Today, we will be discussing the top 10 new features of the new Ford Ranger to give you a pretty good idea of how the new pickup can fit into your lifestyle. So, without further ado, let’s get started -
Rear box step
The conventional pickups come with some sort of step at the rear bumper that help you ingress into the cargo bed. However, it works only when the boot lid is not flipped down, which makes it quite useless in the opposite situation. Thus, people use tyres as a step, which is also not easy as the tyres of the trucks are generally huge. So, here Ford came up with a smart solution.
It has equipped the latest Ranger with a rear box step, which is basically a footwell behind the rear tyres to help you step up and reach the deck. The idea is simple yet effective.
Hi-tech infotainment unit
Hop inside the new Ford Ranger and you will be welcomed by a new prominent portrait‑style centre touchscreen, measuring 12-inch (10.1-inch as standard). It supports Ford’s latest SYNC™ 4 system with customer-ready entertainment and information systems. The head unit can also be paired with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly, which makes life easy and uncluttered.
Digital instrument cluster
The new Ranger also gets the digital instrument cluster for the first time. This hi-tech system measures 8-inch in size and lets you customise it your way by toggling through screen options. It elevates your driving experience by providing more information and greater access to the right vehicle data at the right time.
Wireless charging
The wireless charging pad of the pickup offers you the facility of charging your smartphone without a charging cable. Your phone begins to charge as soon as you place it on the pad. It ensures that you can always remain in contact with the outside world, even during lengthy travels.
Smart climate control system
The air conditioning system of the new Ranger is smarter, quieter and more capable. It is equipped with new zone sensors and adjusts faster and more efficiently. The rear vents do the job of creating a conforming environment for everyone in the cabin.
New powertrain
All the variants of the latest pickup are powered by a new 2.0-litre EcoBlue four-cylinder turbo diesel engine, which comes in single and bi-turbo forms.
The XL and XLT equip a single-turbocharged unit delivering a power output of 170 hp and a peak torque of 405 Nm while the XLT Plus and WildTrak run a bi-turbocharged motor that pumps out 210 hp and 500 Nm of torque. As for the transmission, the former gets a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox, whereas the latter is paired with a 10-speed automatic with an e-Locking Rear Differential.
Selectable drive modes
Ford also offers you a whole new level of control at your fingertips through new selectable drive modes - Eco, Normal, Tow/Haul, Mud/Ruts, Slippery, and Sand. These help in optimising performance and traction for different surfaces, road conditions, and usage.
Electric parking brake
The new Ranger also gets an electric parking brake for the first time by ditching the conventional parking brake. That means, you just need to pull the lever to avoid the vehicle's motion when parked. It does not offer you much convenience in everyday situations like navigating through busy roads but also brings a more techy feel to the interior.
Matrix headlights
Another modern-day feature you get with the new Ranger is Matrix headlights with auto high beam, however, these are only found on the top-spec Wildtrak trim.
360-degree camera
The large centre display allows the driver to choose from multiple camera views to see more than ever. It includes a bird’s eye 360-degree top-down view, front off-road view, 180-degree front, and rear split view as well as a rear trailer hitch view. This also comes with the range-topping Ranger only.
