2021 Volkswagen Transporter 6.1 Sportline revealed
KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen has come up with a sporty iteration of its iconic Transporter van in the Old Continent, dubbed as Transporter 6.1 Sportline. The new iteration offers a glut of upgrades both inside and out giving the vehicle a more purposeful style. It faces off against the likes of Ford Transit Custom MS-RT in the growing sporty vans market.
Exclusive styling tweaks for the Sportline model include a new bumper and a red contrast grille strip on the front fascia and an eye-catching new spoiler at the back. The illuminated side bars and newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels make the vehicle more lively. The suspension has also been lowered by 30 mm for better handling.
An even sportier Transporter 6.1 Sportline Black Edition is on offer with matte window tints, black side bars, exclusive alloy wheel colour, matt black side bars, Eibach coilover suspension, and Black Edition decals.
Getting inside, here the Transporter 6.1 Sportline is decked up with luxury Nappa leather and suede trim featuring honeycomb stitches and the Sportline logo. The list of hi-tech goodies includes a digital cockpit, Bluetooth connectivity, DAB radio, a heated windscreen and heated seats, climatic air conditioning, and a Discover Media Navigation system. The Black Edition model also gets a Discover Media Pro Navigation with a 9.2-inch colour touchscreen display.
As for safety, Volkswagen loaded the T6.1 Sportline with many advanced systems, comprising a rear-view camera, LED headlights with high beam assist, adaptive cruise control with city emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, and an anti-theft alarm system with interior monitoring.
Powering the 2021 Volkswagen Transporter T6.1 Sportline is a 2.0-litre TDI mill that generates a maximum power of 204 PS. The engine is mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox as standard which assists the van in achieving the century sprint in 8.9 seconds. The top speed is rated at 200 kmph.
Volkswagen offers the Sportline trim in both short and long-wheelbase versions, at a price starting from £42,940 (approximately RM 246,332).
