2021 Toyota Hilux GR Sport now on sale in Thailand
KUALA LUMPUR: Toyota Hilux is one of the popular pickup trucks available in the ASEAN market. Its robust exterior, spacious cabin, engine performance, durability, all are quite enough to attract auto-enthusiasts. Well, now here comes the special GR Sport iteration of the pickup truck that adds more spice to the mix. The Hilux GR Sport recently made its official debut in the Thai market where it has been developed locally.
Toyota offers the GR Sport pickup in two configurations - Hilux Revo GR Sport 4WD and Hilux Revo GR-Sport 2WD (Lo-Floor). The former is based on the top-spec Rocco variant while the latter underpins the Z Edition.
Inspired by the Toyota Gazoo Racing’s rally cars, the 2021 Toyota Hilux Revo GR Sport 4WD features a unique identity with a new design front grille and a new front bumper equipped with accessories. It also gets a metallic black sport bar with LED light, a metallic black finish on fender flares, side mirrors, and rear bumper, and a shark fin antenna. The pickup rides on 18-inches alloy wheels featuring a new GR Sports-style design. Side and trunk stickers are also there, which are exclusively designed for GR Sport models.
The Revo GR-Sport 2WD also gets similar cosmetic enhancements with a new grille, redesigned front bumper, full skirt kits, metallic black side mirrors, shark fin antenna, and 17-inches alloy wheels.
The significant changes inside the sportier Hilux models are
- Smoke silver interior
- Perforated suede upholstery with red thread stitching and the GR emblem
- Smoke silver and metallic black finishing on the central console and front AC vents
- Black door panels trimmed in artificial leather
- Sporty-style steering wheel and dash
- Sports car accelerator and brake pedals
However, a few differences are there, the low-rider model comes with a Red & Black color tone in contrast with the Smoke silver design. Whereas, the double-cab high-rider version gets a smart ignition system and the GR emblem display on the dashboard.
On the mechanical front, both trims are fitted with a 2.8-litre GD Super Power engine that kicks out a maximum power output of 204 PS and a peak torque of 500 Nm. As for the transmission, there is a 6-speed automatic transmission, with Sequential Shift and Paddle Shift.
The Hilux Revo GR Sport 4WD is priced at 1,299,000 baht (RM 167,149) while the 2WD model retails for 889,000 baht (RM 114,392).
