2021 Toyota Fortuner launched in Malaysia, check all the details here
For those, who have been eagerly waiting for the launch of the 2021 Toyota Fortuner facelift, here comes the good news! The latest iteration of the popular SUV has finally hit the Malaysian market alongside the all-new Innova facelift. The updated Fortuner is available in two CKD variants - 2.7 SRZ AT 4×4, and 2.8 VRZ AT 4×4. Also, there is one more model, 2.4 AT 4X4 that is bound for East Malaysia.
So what’s all new in the 2021 Fortuner? Let’s start with the exterior. The revamped SUV sports a new radiator grille with a chrome bar connecting newly shaped LED headlights. The new face also features LED daytime running lights placed a bit lower, and new LED fog lamps. The rear end is almost similar to the outgoing model, though it gets new and slimmer looking LED tail lights.
At the same time, the range-topping Fortuner VRZ gets a sportier persona, seen on the Thai-spec Legender model. For a distinguishing and sportier look, the trim has a split grille, a different front bumper, dual-LED projector headlights, 20-inch alloy wheels, a two-tone paint scheme, and gloss-black elements on the rear bumper and boot lid.
In terms of mechanical setup, the top-spec 2.8 VRZ has a new engine under the hood, that’s a 2.8-litre turbo diesel mill churning out 204 PS of maximum power at 3,400 rpm and a peak torque of 500 Nm from 1,600 to 2,800 rpm. The new engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. It also features an optimized head gasket and cylinder block structure along with a black shaft for better NVH.
On contrary, the 2.7 SRZ variant continues to get power from the same 2.7-litre four-cylinder gasoline unit generating 166 PS and 245 Nm.
Inside, the new appointments of the revamped Fortuner include a revised infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, a redesigned instrument cluster, wireless charger for Qi compliant devices, variable flow control power steering, vehicle telematics system, an ambient lighting system, new seat upholstery, and trimmings.
Another significant change available n the updated Fortuner is the inclusion of the Toyota Safety Sense suite that comprises Lane Departure Alert, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and Pre-Collision System with auto-brake.
