2021 Toyota Fortuner GR Sport launched in Thailand
KUALA LUMPUR: A few days back, Toyota unveiled the GR Sport version of the Hilux pickup truck in Thailand, and now it’s time for the Fortuner SUV to get the special treatment. The Fortuner GR Sport inspired by the TOYOTA GAZOO RACING's racing cars, is now on sale in the Thai market with a number of sporty elements inside and out.
On the exterior, the 2021 Toyota Fortuner GR Sport gets a new glossy black front grille with the GR emblem. The front bumper is equipped with a glossy black accessories kit elevating the sporty stance of the premium SUV. Further, one can notice the door handles which are finished in the car’s body colour. Also, parts of the kit are a newly designed sports-car style rear spoiler, exclusive 20-inches alloy wheels in a special shade, and red brake callipers.
Hop inside the new Fortuner and you will see the sports car identity in every aspect. There is a Red & Black interior design for a racing car-like experience and Sportscar Perforated suede upholstery with red stitching and the GR emblem. Other significant inclusions are:
- Smoke silver color stripes on the central console, with black artificial leather and red thread stitching
- Smoke silver and chromium color stripes on front AC vents
- Leather-wrapped steering wheel with red Center mark, red thread stitching, and GR badge
- Leather-covered shift knob with Smoke silver accents
- Glove box upholstered in artificial leather and red stitching
- Sports car accelerator and brake pedals
- Exclusive GR Sport carpets
- Exclusive Smart key remote control key
As for safety, the sporty SUV is packed with Toyota Safety Sense features, including Pre-collision system, Lane Departure Alert, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitor, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
Powering the Thai-spec GR Sport Fortuner is a 2.8-litre turbo mill capable of delivering a maximum power output of 204 PS and a peak torque of 500 Nm. The power is sent to all four wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.
One can grab the 2021 Toyota Fortuner GR Sport edition by paying THB 1,879,000 (approximately equal to RM 242,063).
