2021 Peugeot 5008 CKD: In pics

The French automaker Peugeot recently began its new journey in Malaysia by joining hands with distributor Bermaz Auto and launched two locally-assembled models viz 2021 Peugeot 5008 and 2021 Peugeot 3008. Both are assembled at Stellantis' plant in Gurun, Kedah. In today’s story, we will take you through the gallery of the new seven-seater Peugeot 5008 detailing all its significant features, but before that let’s take a look at the car’s price and powertrain details.

The all-new 2021 Peugeot 5008 price for the single Allure variant starts at RM 177,311 (on-the-road without insurance). Included in the price is the sales and service tax exemption that has been extended until June 2022.

Under the hood, the new SUV is equipped with a 1.6-litre Twin Scroll Turbo High-Pressure four-cylinder engine that generates a maximum power of 165 hp at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 240 Nm at 1,400 rpm. The power is sent to the front wheels via a quick-shifting 6-speed automatic gearbox. In terms of performance, the car runs from zero to 100 kmph in 8.9 seconds with a top speed of 205 kmph. The fuel consumption is rated at 7.0 litres per 100 km or 14.28 kmpl (on the NEDC cycle).

2021 Peugeot 5008 Exterior

The new Peugeot 5008 features a new and bold exterior design with modernity and an elegant silhouette. Important exterior elements include -

A new frameless radiator grille: The frameless chequered front grille extended with fine blades and smooth lines gives the SUV a new front face identity.

LED headlights: The revamped grille neatly integrates with the new LED headlights featuring vertical fang-like signature lighting. These are also paired with auto high beam and 90-degree cornering functions.

LED tail lights: At the back, the modern stature of the SUV is enhanced by the new full LED tail lights with 3D lion claw and scrolling indicators covered with a transparent smoke lens.

Roof rails: The car’s elegant roof is fitted with aluminium roof rails enhancing the robust and flowing design of the silhouette.

Panoramic sunroof: Adding more pleasure and lightness to the cabin is the Panoramic sunroof. It enhances the overall travel experience of the occupants.

Hand-free powered tailgate: The car has a large boot volume (952 litres with the third row folded flat) that can be easily accessed through the hands-free powered tailgate feature. It opens and closes the boot lid with just a foot movement.

Wheels: The new Peugeot SUV rolls on 18-inch ‘Detroit’ alloy wheels that add a final touch to its athletic muscular body. The wheels are wrapped with 225/55R18 tyres).

Peugeot Malaysia offers the new 5008 SUV in four colour options viz. Amazonite Grey, Nera Black, Pearl White, and Emerald Crystal.

2021 Peugeot 5008 Interior

Hop inside the new Peugeot 5008 and you will be greeted by a modernised and ergonomically designed space, which is loaded with amplified tech features. Significant interior inclusions are:

Instrument panel:  The car comes with a 12.3-inch digital head-up cluster display, which is fully configurable and customisable, to follow the main elements of your driving without taking your eyes off the road. 

Steering wheel: The Peugeot i-Cockpit is fitted with a compact steering wheel that offers better handling.

Toggle switches: The car has seven elegant piano-styled "toggle switches" for direct and permanent access to the main comfort functions like audio, AC, navigation with voice command, vehicle settings, telephone, mobile apps, and hazard warning lights.

Infotainment system: For on-the-go entertainment, there is a 10.0-inch HD central touchscreen conveniently placed within the reach. It is mated to a 6-speaker audio system and also offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity options.

Seats: The seats are wrapped in black leather and if we talk about their adjustment settings, the driver seat comes with a 6-way power adjustment, with 4-way lumbar adjustment. The front passenger seat, on the other hand, has a 6-way power adjustment. The second-row seats of the SUV can be folded in 40-20-40 split with 60:40 sliding while the removable third-row seats have 50:50 split fold functionality.

Wireless charging: Below the toggle switches lies a wireless charging tray for charging the Qi-compatible devices. 

Air-conditioning: The SUV gets a dual-zone automatic air-conditioning system with rear air vents featuring a fan speed controller.

2021 Peugeot 5008 Safety

The new Peugeot 5008 is loaded with all the latest driving aids and safety features that protect not only the occupants but also other road users. Included in the list are Visiopark 1 (with 180° rearview camera), Active Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Warning, Speed Limit Recognition, Blind Spot Monitoring, Advanced Grip Control with 5 grip modes (Normal, Snow, Mud, Sand, and ESP off), Hill Assist Descent Control, 6 SRS Airbags, ABS with EBD and BA, Electronic Stability Program, Anti-Skid Regulation, and Hill Start Assist.
