2021 Nissan X-Trail teased ahead of the official premiere
KUALA LUMPUR: Nissan X-Trail, known as Nissan Rogue in the United States, has been causing a stir from the last few months. The Japanese automaker had its first teaser unveiled, despite several photos already leaked earlier in April. However, the full-fledged showcase is scheduled for June 15 at 9 am EDT.
From what we can see so far, the new X-Trail features a distinctive face compared to the ongoing model, with a prominent V-shaped grille and a split headlight design. There are slim LED DRLs in the upper section of the headlamp and low and high beams in the lower one. Towards the side, it features body cladding along the wheel arches and the door-sills. The crossover would probably run on 18-inch tyres having dual-tone 5-spoke diamond-cut alloy wheels.
The crossover's rear-end design is not yet revealed; however, the earlier leaked photos have uncovered it, which might be right. The rear appearance has adopted designing cues from Nissan Kicks, though it has a broader presence. A revised bumper with dual-tone treatment with a diffuser, integrated roof-rails, Rogue badge on the tailgate, and shark-fin antenna can also be seen.
Coming to the interior changes, 2021 Nissan X-Trail is expected to receive some radical modifications, including a fully digital instrument panel, a larger infotainment screen, and a flat-bottom steering wheel. Previous spy shots have given us clues that it might get a 9.0-inch touchscreen that just debuted in the new Nissan Titan. The crossover may have more interior space for passengers and cargo as its dimensions might increase slightly.
Like interior features, the engine specifications have also not been confirmed, but it is expected to feature a 2.5-litre inline-four petrol engine mated to a continuously variable transmission. For the ongoing X-Trail, this setup produces 170 PS of power and 237 Nm of torque. Another 2.0-litre variable-compression turbo engine, producing 248 PS and 379 Nm, could also join the options list. Moreover, a hybrid or e-Power version is also expected to be there, seeing Nissan’s commitment towards electrification.
In the United States, the new X-Trail should go on sale late in 2020 or early 2021; however, Nissan has not spoken anything for the Malaysian launch as of now.
