2021 Nissan Patrol NISMO revealed with bold styling and more power

KUALA LUMPUR: At a virtual event hosted at Expo 2020 Dubai, Nissan unveiled an all-new race-inspired version of its legendary Patrol SUV, dubbed as the 2021 Nissan Patrol NISMO. The new model shows off a great combination of striking exterior styling with the refinement of a luxury vehicle and the exhilarating performance of a sports car. But unfortunately, the hotter Patrol will be exclusively for Middle East markets.

The Patrol NISMO noticeably looks different than the regular model due to exterior modifications like a honeycomb three-dimensional mesh grille, redesigned headlamps, and horizontal chrome bars with the Nismo badge. The SUV also gets a side duct on the front bumper for zero lift force and the familiar Nismo red lining all around its base.

At the back, the appearance looks different with dark chrome inserts on the bumper, tweaked tail lights, and new LED fog lights inspired by Nissan’s F1 car. Added to its sportier styling is a roof spoiler that not only looks great but also helps in better airflow. The SUV rolls on 22-inch two-tone aluminum wheels.

Under the hood, the standard Nissan Patrol is equipped with a huge 5.6-litre V8 motor; the Nismo version also uses the same but with a different state of tune. The re-tuned mill kicks out an additional 28 hp, taking the maximum power output to 428 hp. However, the torque remains at 560 Nm. Besides, the Nissan engineers also upgraded the suspension pack of the SUV, which now has Bilstein components improving its cornering abilities along with overall improved performance.

Inside, the 2021 Patrol NISMO gets racing-inspired steering with red carbon fibre inserts, quilted seats in leather and Alcantara, and the Nismo logo embossed on the headrests. Included in the features list are Apple CarPlay connectivity, wireless charging, and the latest Nissan Intelligent Mobility suite of technologies. The said safety suite comprises Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Smart Rear-View Mirror, and a High Beam Assist. 

The 2021 Nissan Patrol NISMO will go on sale across the Middle East from this month at a starting price of AED 385,000 (RM 434,693) inclusive of VAT. The available colour options list includes White Pearl, Black Solid, and Grey, and Silver metallic.
