2021 Nissan GT-R T-Spec revealed with a hefty price tag
KUALA LUMPUR: Nissan’s enduring supercar GT-R lineup gets an all-new special edition named 2021 GT-R T-spec with a slew of upgraded features. The new model is positioned above the GT-R Premium grade in the range. It will be available for sale in the North American market this winter in a very limited quantity along with the earlier revealed GT-R NISMO Special Edition. Pricing for the GT-R T-spec starts at $138,490, excluding destination fees (RM 574,757), and at $215,690 (RM 895,155) for the NISMO.
So, what does the Nissan GT-R T-Spec have on offer?
On the exterior, the supercar gets wider front fenders borrowed from Track Edition. We can also see black hood ducts and T-spec badging on the front fascia, and body-colored door mirrors on the sides. Also part of the kit is a carbon-fibre rear spoiler accentuating the special GT-R aggressive stance.
The supercar rides on gold-painted RAYS forged aluminum-alloy wheels mated with carbon-ceramic brakes that have brake air guides borrowed from the NISMO trim.
Speaking about the GT-R T-Spec colour palette, Nissan offers the supercar in two exclusive exterior colors viz. Millennium Jade and Midnight Purple. The former was earlier available with the R34 GT-R V-Spec II Nür, which is one of the rarest GT-Rs ever. Its name was inspired by the Nürburgring racetrack, and it was offered in a limited quantity of 718 units, out of which 156 were wrapped in the Millennium Jade.
The Midnight Purple, on the other hand, is a modern interpretation of the Midnight Purple III that is taken from the two previous GT-R limited editions - R34 V-Spec and the 2014 Midnight Opal R35.
Inside the cabin, exclusive T-spec badges are available with a special "Mori Green" interior color. The seats are wrapped in premium semi-aniline leather with pearl suede accents while the headliner is quilted with Alcantara.
No changes are there on the mechanical front. That means the 2021 Nissan GT-R T-Spec gets the power from the ongoing twin-turbo VR38DETT 3.8-litre V6 engine that generates 565 horsepower and 633 Nm of peak torque. The engine is coupled with an advanced paddle-shifted sequential 6-speed dual-clutch transmission and an independent rear transaxle ATTESA E-TS all-wheel-drive system.
