2021 Lexus LS 500 facelift bookings open in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: Lexus unveiled the updated iteration of its flagship model, the LS, in the home market back in June 2020. And now, it buckles up to bring the all-new sedan to the local shores. Lexus Malaysia has just opened the bookings for the 2021 Lexus LS 500 facelift with deliveries expected to start in May. The new model will be available in two trims - Luxury and Executive Kiriko.
The exterior revisions available with the LS 500 facelift include:
- New intricately-formed characteristic spindle grille with a dark metallic finish
- Redesigned front bumper
- New Ultra Slim 3-beam LED Projector headlights featuring unique L-shaped DRLs and BladeScan type Adaptive High-beam system
- 20-inch alloy wheels with a noise-reducing design and Hyper Chrome Metallic finish
- New tyres optimized with reinforced sidewalls for better ride comfort
- Two new exterior colour options - Iridium Silver and Sonic Iridium
Inside the cabin, the new Lexus LS 500 gets the following enhancements to elevate passenger and driver comfort:
- Semi-aniline leather seats and ornamentation developed by Takumi craftsmen
- A new Chateau and Hazel interior colour scheme
- Kiriko Glass ornamentation and hand-folded pleats on the door trim
- A new high definition 12.3-inch multimedia touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and an in-built Lexus navigation system
- 23-speaker Mark Levinson Reference Surround Sound system
- 28-way power-adjustable front seats
- Power-adjustable rear seats with ottoman and massage functions
Under the elongated bonnet of the luxury saloon, there is an improved 3.5-litre V6 Twin Turbo engine which has new pistons and an improved variable valve control design for low emissions and quiet operation. The new engine churns out a maximum output of 415 hp along with a torque of 600 Nm. It is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission sending power to the rear wheels.
In terms of performance, the sedan can hit the 0-100 kmph sprint in 5.0 seconds with a top speed electronically limited to 250 kmph. For the customization of the powertrain responses, the driver can choose from the available drive modes - Eco, Comfort, Normal, Custom, Sport S, and Sport S+.
On the safety front, both variants come with 12 airbags, and Lexus Safety System+ as standard, which includes assists like adaptive cruise control, pre-collision system, autonomous braking, dynamic radar cruise control, lane tracing assist, and rear cross traffic alert. The 2021 Lexus LS 500 also features a new parking support brake function and a new active assist.
The price for the LS 500 Luxury starts at RM 1,023,629, while for the LS 500 Executive Kiriko, customers need to shell out RM 1,304,768. The mentioned prices are on the road, excluding insurance and 50% SST.
