Built on a new Dynamic Drive Platform, all the trims of the new D-Max look distinctively bold and sporty with a more SUV-like stance. The new styling elements do not only enhance the pickup’s looks but also add to its aerodynamic efficiency, says Isuzu. With the 1.9L Standard 6AT trim, there are Bi-LED projector headlamps with DRLs, while in the upper trims, one can find automatic headlights, LED front fog lamps as well as rear combination LED tail lights. Auto-folding side-mirrors and tailgate assist are also available in Premium and X-Terrain trims.
On top of these, the full-fledged X-Terrain looks different from others with its exclusive Valencia Orange or Sapphire Blue paintwork highlighted by some other exterior bits.
Under the bonnet, the new X-Terrain is equipped with a revised 3-litre mill re-tuned for better performance. The engine now produces a maximum power of 190 PS (13 PS more) and a peak torque of 450 Nm (70 Nm more). On the transmission front, there is a new 6-speed automatic gearbox that matches the gear shifts with the new engine’s performance characteristics.
Another engine onboard is a 1.9 litre four-cylinder diesel engine. This mill is also refined for better throttle response, however, its output levels are unchanged at 150 PS and 350 Nm.
Inside the cabin, the new Isuzu D-Max looks like a premium SUV with soft-touch plastics all -around the dashboard, centre console, and door panels. There are large seats with Anti-Vibration Elastic Comfort, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and contrast trimming at the main touchpoints. Variant-wise features list include a 9.0-inch infotainment display, eight-way power-adjustable front seats, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, remote engine start, and so on.
The ADAS safety suite available with the X-Terrain includes Lane Departure Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Pedal Misapplication Mitigation, Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Automatic High Beam.
“Isuzu engineers set out to create a stronger, more able and durable machine with this new model. They invested years in development and over four million kilometers in testing the new model to achieve the best Isuzu D-Max they have ever created. They then added the soft touches and high-tech features to satisfy the discerning owners who desire comfort and sophistication in their modern day vehicles,” explained CEO of Isuzu Malaysia Mr. Koji Nakamura.
