2021 Hyundai Santa Fe now available in Indonesia, Malaysia next?
KUALA LUMPUR: The global unveiling of the 2021 Santa Fe facelift happened back in June 2020 that involved a myriad of changes inside and out, alongside the new engine underneath. Well, the new Santa Fe now entered the Indonesian market where it is priced between Rp 569,000,000 (RM161,611) and Rp 729,000,000 (RM 207,055). Let’s see what's all new in the Indonesia-spec model.
Upfront, the new Santa Fe gets a wide geometric patterned grille that blends smoothly with Hyundai’s signature headlights and the split LED DRLs. On the sides, it features a very dynamic proportional concept and 18-inch alloy rims that flaunt its perfect balance. At the rear, the SUV carries a wide strip running across the tailgate while connecting the tail lights. The strip is a working illuminated bar that accentuates the width of the car.
As expected, the interior is plush and comfy thanks to the materials used especially on the seats. The list of standard hi-tech goodies is also long, including a 4.2-inch Supervision TFT LCD instrument cluster, auto-dimming inside rear view mirror, dual-zone automatic climate control system, smart key entry with push start button, electronic parking brake, and 8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
Under the hood configuration carries two choices - a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 180 PS of maximum power and 232 Nm of peak torque and a 2.2-litre R turbo diesel good for 202 PS and 441 Nm. The former equips a six-speed torque converter automatic while an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission is provided with the latter.
As for safety, the top-spec trim features list include
- Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist
- Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist
- Lane Keeping Assist
- Lane Following Assist
- Safe Exit Assist
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist
- Blind-Spot View Monitor
- Driver Attention Warning
Coming to the home, Hyundai Sime Darby Motors introduced the fourth-gen Santa Fe TM version in 2019, just a year after its international debut. This means we can expect the new 2021 model to arrive sometime this year as the facelift was revealed in 2020.
