2021 Hyundai Palisade: What to expect?
Back in March, Hyundai confirmed the Palisade Malaysian launch for this year, but as the pandemic hits the nation again and the MCO is currently in place, the arrival is likely to be delayed. Contrary to that, Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors recently teased the upcoming three-row SUV on its Facebook account in its true fashion, which could be a hint towards its soon arrival.
The automaker showcases the Palisade at a beach side with a group of friends enjoying outdoor activities. The post also asks, “Do you guys miss outdoor activities? Share with us what kind of activities do you guys miss the most during this FMCO.” Well, the teaser shots not only promote the SUV but also give us outdoor recreational goals. On that note, let’s have a look at what the Malaysian-spec Hyundai Palisade has to offer.
Hyundai Palisade Exterior
On the exterior, the SUV boasts a premium, distinctive, and bold stance. The front fascia is dominated by the brand’s signature cascading front grille flanked by LED headlamps. The extended bonnet, bold C-pillars, panoramic rear glass, LED turn-signal mirrors, and dual sunroof further accentuate the SUV’s looks. At the back, we can spot the vertical LED rear tail lights.
Dimensionally, the Palisade measures 4,981 mm in length, 1,976 mm in width, 1,750 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,900 mm. That means it is 200 mm longer and 80 mm wider than the Hyundai Santa Fe.
Hyundai Palisade Interior
The interior of the biggest Hyundai ever boasts a sense of relaxation and luxury with a calm environment for family adventures. It offers exceptional roominess for the second and third-row seats as well as generous cargo space of 510 litres (when all seats are in place). Thus, it fulfills all the needs of a family.
One of the exciting features confirmed for the Malaysian-spec model is a Heads-Up Display (HUD), inspired by aviation technology. It projects a virtual image onto the windshield, to help driver road visibility. The HUD is teamed up with a coloured TFT LCD panel that features adjustable brightness for excellent visibility. The SUV will also have an industry-first, innovative new roof vent diffuser providing “quieter rear air conditioning airflow.”
Other creature comforts that are likely to be on the Hyundai Palisade specs sheet are an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, three-zone climate control, wireless charging, ten-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat and ventilated rear seats, Driver Talk intercom, Rear Sleep Mode, 16 cupholders and Front automatic windows with double-laminated glass for whisper-quiet travel.
Hyundai Palisade Engine specifications
On the mechanical front, Hyundai’s premium 7-seater SUV will be equipped with an Atkinson-cycle 3.8-litre V6, dual CVVT, direct-injected mill. The said motor generates a maximum power of 291 hp at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 355 Nm at 5,000 rpm. It is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard, sending power either to the front wheels or all four wheels, depending on the trim. The different driving modes consist of Comfort, Eco, Sport, and Smart.
Hyundai Palisade Safety
As for safety, the Hyundai Palisade fits all standards. It grabbed a perfect 5-Star rating in the 2020 NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) and 2020 IIHS (The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) tests. In the global market, the Hyundai SafetySense ADAS pack comes as a standard fitment, we expect the local market SUV to get the same. The pack includes:
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection
- Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist
- Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist
- High Beam Assist
- Lane Following Assist
- Safe Exit Assist
- Driver Attention Warning
- Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go
Hyundai Palisade Price
The Korean automaker has not yet dropped any hint about the Hyundai Palisade 2021 price in Malaysia. But, we can take reference from the Indonesian market, where its price starts at IDR 777 million (RM 222,821) and goes all the way to IDR 1.078 billion (RM 309,139).
