2021 Honda City Hatchback RS e:HEV launched in Thailand
KUALA LUMPUR: As Malaysia leads Honda’s hybrids in the Asia-Oceania region, it was the first market to get the Honda City RS e:HEV sedan in March this year. But, the local shores are still waiting for the City hatchback all along with the hybrid iteration. Meanwhile, the neighbouring Thai market which already has the hatch on offer received the 2021 Honda City Hatchback RS e:HEV yesterday.
The City Hatchback hybrid is fitted with Honda’s Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) hybrid system. It uses twin electric motors and a 1.5-litre Atkinson Cycle naturally-aspirated engine. The most powerful motor generates a maximum power of 109 PS and a peak torque of 253 Nm, whereas the petrol mill makes 98 PS and 127 Nm. Paired to a single-speed transmission (e-CVT), the City Hatchback e:HEV hybrid boasts a fuel efficiency of 27 kmpl and a carbon emission rate of 86 g/km.
Another significant highlight of the new City Hatchback hybrid is Honda SENSING intelligent safety suite This includes Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Road Departure Mitigation System with Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist System: and Auto High-Beam. Complementing the premium safety technologies are:

On the exterior, the new City reflects its unique identity with the front H logo trimmed in a blue frame and the e:HEV emblem at the rear. Included in the exterior highlights are gloss black front grille, RS sports style bumpers, striking LED headlights with LED daytime driving lights, LED tail lights, LED fog lamps, black sport side mirrors, adjustable and electric folding with integrated turn signals. and 16-inch alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin, the 2021 Honda City Hatchback RS e:HEV gets Ultra Seats that can be split folded 60:40 and can be used in 4 modes - Utility, Long, Tail, and Refresh. The list of hi-tech bits comprises automatic air conditioning with rear air vents, 7-inch TFT driving information display, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, keyless entry with push start, Remote Engine Start, and more.
In Thailand, the 2021 City Hatchback e:HEV RS price tag reads THB 849,000 (RM 111,118) with a five-year warranty for the HEV system and a 10-year warranty for the hybrid battery. We hope the local shores soon get the standard as well as hybrid City hatchback.
