2021 Goodwood: 2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe booked for debut
KUALA LUMPUR: Wanna meet the all-new 2nd generation BMW 2 Series Coupe? The waiting period has been reduced to a few days, as the automaker has confirmed the car’s Goodwood Festival of Speed debut on 8th July.
At the festival, the new BMW 2 Series will appear next to the German automaker’s two new creations - the i4 saloon and iX electric SUV.
The new 2 Series Coupe will also be seen taking on the Goodwood’s famed 1.16-mile hill climb course alongside the new M5 CS super-saloon which is BMW’s most powerful M car to date.
The details of BMW’s arrival emerged after Goodwood’s recent confirmation that the Festival of Speed will return for the year in full capacity.
What other models are scheduled for Goodwood debut? The confirmed list includes Toyota GR 86, the all-new Lotus Emira, and the new Genesis G70 Shooting Brake.
It is to be noted that the said event is part of the UK government’s Events Research Programme (ERP). This programme will allow a series of large-scale festivals, sporting events, and performances with no-social-distancing rules in force. The only requirement being full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test report prior to entry.
In addition to the 2021 Festival of Speed, Formula 1’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone has also been given a green signal. As per tradition, it will take place the weekend after the Festival of light. Only 140,000 spectators will be allowed in total.
