2021 Ford Ranger Wildtrak X price and specifications revealed
KUALA LUMPUR: Loaded with high equipment levels, rugged looks, and tools to take things up to the next level, Ford Australia firstly introduced the minted four-wheel-drive Ranger Wildtrak X, a special edition of the popular Ranger dual-cab ute, in 2019. Now for the 2021 model year, the automaker decided to bring it back with some exterior and interior enhancements that differentiate it from the rest of the Ranger line-up.
On the exterior, the makeover includes the black-painted nudge bar with an LED light stripe, front grille, wheel arch flares, black side steps, roof rails, bumper trim, and mirror caps. Under the black sports bar lies the same power roller shutter adding an 80 mm opening length between the tailgate and roller canister, as well as 20 mm extra height clearance.
The 2021 Wildtrak X rides on bespoke 18-inch alloy wheels with a 35 mm offset for a wider stance, and fitted with chunky off-road tyres. Added to the updated exterior styling are Sabre-colored highlights and Ebony Black accents in place of the Bolder Grey ones.
The interior highlights leather upholstery with Sabre orange stitching and detailing as well as illuminated scuff plates. In terms of technology, the rugged ute comes with an 8.0-inch SYNC3 infotainment system with satellite navigation, smartphone integration, reversing camera, and voice controls. It can also be paired with the FordPass Connect smartphone app allowing owners to operate several functions remotely, including lock/unlock, engine start, fuel levels, and tyre pressure check.
A full suite of the latest safety technologies is also fitted as standard, comprising
- Autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection
- Adaptive cruise control
- Hill start assist
- Hill descent control
- Tyre pressure monitoring
- Electronically-locking rear differential
- Active Park Assist
However, on the mechanical side, no changes are there. The 2021 Wildtrak X continues to be hauled by a 2.0 litre twin-turbo four-pot diesel mill generating 213 PS of maximum power and 500 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a ten-speed automatic gearbox sending power to all four wheels. A 3.2-litre unit paired with a six-speed automatic transmission good for 200 PS and 470 Nm is also on offer.
The new Ford Ranger Wildtrak X is expected to hit the Australian showrooms in early 2021. Pricing starts at AU$66,490 (RM 199,582).
