2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT driving range confirmed
KUALA LUMPUR: As the Ford Mustang Mach-E is hot in demand, the American automaker prepares to launch the Mustang Mach-E GT and Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition this fall. Back in April, Ford detailed their mechanical specifications and estimated prices and now it confirms the final EPA-estimated range of the sporty cars. And guess what, both models exceed the original estimates that the marque had previously suggested.
For the Mustang Mach-E GT, Ford targeted an EPA range of 250 miles (402 km) while it got 270 miles (434 km). On the other hand, the Mach-E GT Performance scored 260 miles (418 km) against the estimated range of 235 miles (376 km). Although the range is higher than what Ford anticipated for these models, it is still less than the 2021 Tesla Model Y Performance EPA range of 303 miles (487 km).
“With Pirelli summer tyres and MagneRide damping system, Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition drivers get the performance thrills of 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds while being able to travel further with the final EPA-estimated range of 260 miles,” said Darren Palmer, global director, battery electric vehicles, Ford Motor Company.
The Mustang GT models are fitted with magnetic dual motors, out of which the upgraded secondary e-motor powers the front wheels to produce a combined power output of 480 hp and a peak torque of 814 Nm. However, the Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition joining the lineup makes the same horsepower with a torque of 860 Nm. As per the automaker, the GT Performance Edition delivers more torque, grip, and better handling by drawing more power from its 88-kWh battery pack.
Besides extra oomph, the GT models feature sportier components as compared to the standard Mustang Mach-E. These include 385 mm front rotors with red-painted Brembo-branded calipers, 20-inch machined-face aluminum wheels, and MagneRide Damping System. Design-wise, the EVs will have a carbonized grey grille with an illuminated pony badge and GT series badging on the exterior. Inside, there will be Ford Performance front seats in Performance Gray ActiveX Seating Material plus unique Miko perforated reflective insert and metallic stitching.
The 2021 Mustang Mach-E GT estimated price is $59,900 (RM 249,496) and the Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition is $64,900 (RM 270,322) in the US.
