2020 Subaru Impreza launched with better safety equipment

KUALA LUMPUR: The Japanese automobile manufacturer, Subaru, has just launched the Impreza facelift, which now comes equipped with better safety features and equipment.

The exterior design on both the hatchback and sedan features a new grille design and front bumper. However, the redesigned tail lamps can only be found in the hatchback variant. Buyers can now choose from a new Ocean Blue Pearl paint scheme that looks stunning.

The car is offered in four different trims - Base, Premium, Sport, and Limited. However, all the variants are powered by the same powertrain, which is a 2.0-litre horizontally-opposed four-cylinder mill. This engine is capable of putting out 152 hp of maximum power and 196 Nm of peak torque. To handle the transmission duties, it is paired with a five-speed short-throw manual gearbox as standard. However, you can opt for a Lineartronic CVT with a seven-speed manual mode that also includes paddle shifters to churn out better performance and thrill.

The Impreza Sports variant gets new 18-inch machine-finish alloys, Active Torque Vectoring, and innovative suspension tuning. Moreover, it is furnished with the brand’s SI-Drive drive mode selector that helps the user to choose from Intelligent and Sport modes. You can also find special exterior finishes on the Sports trim, such as gloss black front grille, gloss black tailgate trim, body-colored rocker panels, and rear spoiler. The cabin features Sport gauges, black/grey upholstery with red stitching, and a multi-function display.

2020 Impreza specs sheet is equipped with a plethora of safety features on the CVT variants such as Automatic Pre-Collision Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Throttle Management, Sway Warning, Lane Departure, Lead Vehicle Start Alert. The standard safety features that can be found on every trim are seven airbags, automatic power door locks, and reverse camera. Moreover, you can also opt for a kit that includes Harman Kardon sound system, powered moonroof, blind-spot detection, and more.
