2020 Renault Captur facelift made its official debut in Russia

KUALA LUMPUR: Renault Captur is one of the top ten best selling crossovers in Russia. Since its launch in 2016, Renault has sold over 1,00,000 units of the model. Now, the automaker comes up with a new chapter in its product history with the reveal of an all-new Captur. Renault partially revealed the model earlier in March, but this time it is a full-fledged showcase. Badged as ‘Kaptur’ in Russia, the crossover gets a variety of upgrades inside and out.

The new crossover is based on a new MO+ platform shared with the Renault Arkana SUV. It is an updated version of the current B0 platform, which underpins models like Renault Duster and Nissan Kicks.

On its exterior, it carries over the same silhouette with some subtle changes. One of the most noticeable updates at the front is a chrome studded grille. It also gets a new pair of 17-inch alloy wheels on the sides. Moreover, an exterior blue shade is added to the palette of color options.

Just like the exterior, the cabin of the new Captur also gets some finishings in the form of metal accents all around the cabin, a new steering wheel, new door cards, and blue accents on the seats. Other updated features include a bigger 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a Bose sound system, a 360-degree camera auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, and a blind-spot monitoring function.

Powering the 2020 Renault Captur is a new 1.3-litre TCe turbo-petrol engine that was developed by the automaker in association with Mercedes-Benz. The engine churns out 150 PS of maximum power and 250 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are handled by a six-speed manual gearbox along with an X-Tronic CVT unit. The new platform enables the facelifted Captur to gain access to the latest X-Tronic CVT. The crossover also features new driving settings for the chassis and steering and has 2WD and 4WD options.

The facelift Captur is slated to launch this year in Russia, and we hope that Renault soon brings the new iteration to Malaysia also.
