The Perodua Bezza compact sedan has been the talk of the town from the time it debuted in 2016. The recent facelift has improved over the pre-update version, garnering over 15,000 units in less than a month after launch. As per records, 7000 orders were received in 2020, while the rest 8000 bookings were converted from the previous model. Moreover, the national car manufacturer is targeting monthly sales of 4000 units.

As for changes, the facelifted Bezza receives styling changes inside out, and Perodua's new advanced safety assist (ASA) 2.0 which boasts of a bunch of driver assistance features. It can only be availed with the top-spec AV variant, while some bits such as vehicle stability control, which were earlier reserved for the higher grades, now come as standard.

 

Aside from these changes, the Bezza line-up has been reduced to four variants as compared to the previous version, which was available in five grades. The current line-up comprises 1.0L GX MT, 1.0L GX AT, 1.3L X AT, and 1.3L AV AT. While the facelift seems refreshing, the new updates do not impact the pricing much. Despite belonging to the A-segment, it boasts a spacious cabin with enough room for occupants at the front and rear. The sedan does not compromise on the storage space like other models in this league. Imposing fuel economy

The new Bezza is available with two frugal engine options in manual and automatic variants. One is the 1.3-litre, Dual VVT-I unit and the other it’s the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder engine. Out of these, the 1.3-litre motor comes with the Eco Idle technology, which aids the fuel-economy. According to company claims, the 1.3-litre unit returns 22 km/l, and the 1.0-litre engine delivers marginally less at 21.3 km/l.

Advanced Safety Assist 2.0

One of the most prominent changes to the Perodua Bezza facelift is the addition of Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) 2.0 suite, available with all the new Perodua models. It comprises of a host of driver-assist features including Pre-Collision Braking up to 80 km/h, Pre-Collision Warning up to 100 km/h, Front Departure Alert, Pedestrian Detection up to 50 km/h and Pedal Misoperation Control. However, it comes only with the top-spec AV AT variant, missing out on the rest of the line-up.

Competitively priced

With the recent dose of updates, the new Bezza improves over its pre-facelift version in visual appeal and boasts an enhanced kit. However, these changes do not impact the Perodua Bezza price much as it remains well under the affordable tag. That said, the entry-level variant in the line-up is available at RM 34,580 and the range-topping AV AT is priced at RM 49, 980.

Standard LED headlamps

Among the changes, the front end receives restyled headlamps. The new LED units reiterate aggression and bolster the bold look. Moreover, these are now available as a standard fitment across the line-up, which was earlier restricted to the top-spec grades. With this, the new Bezza gets an edge over its competitors that either misses out on this feature or get it only on the range-topping variant.
