2020 Malaysian Auto Show postponed to April 2021
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's largest annual automotive event is not going to happen this year, and everyone is well-acquainted with the reason for being so. The organizers of the show, Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) has recently announced that the 2020 Malaysia Auto Show, which was rescheduled to occur in July, has now been postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2020 edition of the show was originally planned between April 9-12 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS). But in early March, the event was postponed the first time for straight three months and was supposed to be held in July. And now, with the recovery movement control order in place until August 31, MARii has decided to cancel the event for this year.
MARii CEO, Dato’ Madani Sahari stated that despite the postponement, the firm heads up for the potential technologies and trying to host a digital version of an automotive sales and education show.
“Despite the absence of this year’s edition of the Autoshow, it is a good time to rethink and innovate the way we gather the automotive community in a safe and secure way”, said Dato’ Madani Sahari, CEO MARii.
“We hope that the situation improves this year so we can start planning for an even bigger Autoshow next year, showcasing the latest mobility technology and creating a new experience in automotive and mobility exhibitions for the tech-savvy consumer”, he added.
Not only this show, but the global pandemic has caused the cancelation of several automotive events around the world. Some major ones include Geneva International Motor Show, which scheduled to happen in March, will now occur between March 4-14, 2021. New York auto show was also canceled, although postponement from April to August this year and the Beijing Motor Show in China is also rescheduled for September 2020 after five months of earlier delay.
Cancelation and postponement of such grand events bring a ray of disappointment among the auto enthusiasts, but safety always comes first.
