2020 Lamborghini Huracan Evo RWD Spyder droptop version revealed
KUALA LUMPUR: The House of The Raging Bull may get a dent from the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but that could not stop it from moving forward. Lamborghini celebrated the reopening of its factories in Italy and unleashed its latest machine, as promised earlier. The global virtual debut of a new car was slated for May 7, and here we go, the droptop version of Huracan Evo RWD Spyder is in front of us.
Though it may not be a completely new model, it is undoubtedly exciting, particularly for drivers looking to have a little fun.
It is simply a droptop iteration of the Huracan Evo RWD coupe, which ditched the regular Evo's more aggressive bodywork and features a cleaner shape and a purer persona, just like the coupe. On the mechanical front, it houses an equally ferocious naturally-aspirated V-10 engine.
It is powered by a 5.2-litre V-10 mill capable of generating 610 PS of maximum power at 8000 rpm and 560 Nm of peak torque at 6500 rpm, which is slightly less than the 631 PS and 600 Nm of AWD version. The drive is then sent to rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Being a convertible version, it is a bit slower to cover 0-100 kmph at 3.5 seconds; the coupe gets the same in 3.4 seconds. The top speed is rated at 324 kmph, which is again 1 kmph less than the hardtop.
Coming to the folding top of Huracan Evo RWD Spyder, the firm claims that it can be placed quickly in only 17 seconds at speeds of up to 50 kmph. The soft top comes in a variety of hues, as per the customers’ preference.
Moving to the cockpit, it remains identical to its fixed-roof sibling, and drivers will still get the same 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the center console, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The only difference is a focus on letting the right noises in and reducing the wind noise for better conversations even at high speeds.
“The Huracán EVO Rear-Wheel Drive Spyder doubles the driving fun, delivering raw driving pleasure with the opportunity to celebrate life outside. The driver is perfectly in touch with Lamborghini’s engineering heritage, experiencing the feedback and engagement from the set-up of a rear-wheel-drive car where the electronic intrusion is minimized while enjoying the sense of freedom and spirit of life that only open-top driving provides,” said Stefano Domenicali, Chairman, and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.
2020 Lamborghini Huracán Evo RWD Spyder will go on sale in summer this year with a starting price of $229,428 (RM 993,457).
