2020 Kia Grand Carnival launched in Malaysia, priced at RM 179,888

KUALA LUMPUR: Naza Kia Malaysia, the official distributor of Kia vehicles in the country, pulled the wraps off the all-new Kia Grand Carnival on Monday. As a bold entry in the premium MPV segment, the new MPV adds more excitement to the Kia family.

The refreshed MPV comes in a single 2.2D trim at a price tag of RM 179,888 by ditching the earlier eight-seat KX and SX variants. With the occupancy of 11 passengers, new Grand Carnival fights against the likes of 10-seater Maxus G10 and 11-seater Hyundai Grand Starex.

With its most refined designing cues, the new Kia Grand Carnival will surely turn heads on the road. Its exclusive front look comprises the halogen projector headlamps and fog lamps with LED daytime running lights. The MPV is designed with style and comfort in mind, as it has power sliding doors on both sides of the vehicle that can be operated manually or automatically with just a click.

The MPV rides on 18-inch silver-finish alloy wheels cloaked in 235/60 tires for better grip and a smoother ride. For suspension, there is MacPherson struts in front and a multi-link setup at the back. As earlier, the new Grand Carnival measures 5,115 mm long 1,985 mm wide, 1,755 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 3,060 mm. The exterior color options include Snow White Pearl, Aurora Black Pearl, Silky Silver, and Panthera Metal.

The mechanical setup houses a 2.2-litre TCI diesel engine, churning out 200 PS of maximum power at 3,800 rpm and 440 Nm of peak torque from 1,750 rpm. The engine is mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels for great fluidity and maximum driving pleasure.

The new Grand Carnival comes with dynamic Multiflex seating configurations - 6, 7, 8, or 11 seat layouts. This makes it ideal for those who are looking for flexible space and capacity. The innovative Multiflex seats are upholstered in fabric and its front units are manually adjustable, while the seats of the second and third rows have manual 40:20:40 split-folding. And, there are pop-up units in fourth-row which stow away into the boot floor. The minimum luggage capacity is 33 litres, which can be increased up to 2,335 litres with all passenger rows folded.

With a purpose to bring more value and convenience, the new Grand Carnival is equipped with modern upgrades like automatic windows with safety lock, a new roof rack, 7.0-inch touchscreen HMI with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, voice recognition at the steering wheel, and an extra USB charging port in the fourth row.

For safety, the 2020 Grand Carnival comes with six airbags, electronic stability control, and hill start assist. But it misses on blind-spot collision warning with rear cross-traffic collision warning, earlier available in SX model.

“We are proud to be bringing in the New Grand Carnival, one of Malaysia’s most recognizable MPVs which just received an upgrade to provide greater flexibility in the cabin space, setting a new benchmark in the MPV segment for the experience and comfort it can bring to large families. Malaysians can now experience the pleasure of driving in outstanding style and comfort without compromising on space and functionality in a spacious MPV that Malaysians have come to know and love," said Dato’ Nik Hamdam Nik Hassan, Group CEO, Automotive Group, Naza Corporation Holdings.

The 2020 Grand Carnival is now available in all Kia showrooms.
