2020 Hyundai Sonata teased again
KUALA LUMPUR: It looks like Hyundai Malaysia is planning yet another surprise for us! As along with/after Kona, the automaker might bring the all-new Sonata sedan. What gives us a hint? Well, have you seen Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) Malaysia Day video? If not, go check it out, and you'll know what we mean.
In Hyundai's Malaysia Day video, we see automaker's staff members from various departments speaking about the occasion's importance in their mother tongue. It, of course, mentions the country's diverse cultures, races, and food.
However, in one of the frames featuring Satria and Alfian, we see a car in the background, and it's none other than the 2020 Hyundai Sonata. Prior to that, the D-segment sedan was seen in the Kona promo image.

Though there is no official word, these hints indicate the sedan's soon arrival. The next-gen Sonata that we see in the images was revealed back in March 2019. Unlike the 6th-gen model, this one features an adventurous design layout. It gets a sleek shape, signature lighting elements, and a luxurious cabin.
In the markets where the Sonata is on sale, it is available in several powertrain options, like a 191 hp/245 Nm, 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated GDI mill, a 1.6-litre turbo GDI unit making 180hp and 264 Nm, and lastly a 2.0-litre MPI petrol and hybrid options.
We are eagerly waiting for an official confirmation. We hope it happens soon. Let us know your thoughts on the new Sonata in the comments section.
