2020 Hyundai Palisade grabs a 5-star safety rating
KUALA LUMPUR: Hyundai Palisade is one of the best three-row SUVs available in the global market. Be it the exterior styling, inside space, driving experience or safety, Hyundai had not left any stone unturned for making it the first choice of customers. So here we have a piece of good news for those who are wondering to buy the South Korean SUV. The model has recently gone through the safety test of NHTSA (National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration) and scored a perfect 5-star overall safety rating.
Under the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), both the FWD and AWD variants of Palisade received the maximum 5-star rating for safety in frontal as well as side crash evaluations.
"Shoppers seek core safety features when buying a family SUV," said Brian Latouf, Chief Safety Officer, Hyundai Motor North America. "This is why we use sensor fusion technology to make Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection and Lane Keeping Assist standard features in the Palisade. Occupant safety is always top of mind at Hyundai."
Not only this, but Hyundai's flagship SUV has also grabbed the tag of 2020 Top Safety Pick from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) when equipped with optional LED headlights.
So what exactly Hyundai offers as the safety shield of the SUV, have a look.
Palisade has seven standard airbags - dual front, dual side, driver's knee, and roll-over-sensing side-curtain airbags.
It is loaded with a plethora of advanced safety tech features including lane keep assist, drowsy driver alert, forward collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, trailer sway assist, anti-lock braking set-up, stability control, rear parking sonar, and the mandatory camera.
Additionally, it comes equipped with a Rear Occupant Alert (ROA) that activates as the engine stops. It monitors the rear seats using an ultrasonic sensor and detects the movements of children and pets and sends an alert to the driver's smartphone.
There is also an optional Safe Exit Assist system that uses radar to help detect vehicles approaching from the rear and alerts passengers looking to exit the car.
Thus, all these features helped the Palisade to achieve the top scores.
