2020 Ford Ranger FX4 debuts in Thailand as a new sub-model

KUALA LUMPUR: With new updates being provided to Ford Ranger T6 in Thailand, the American automobile manufacturer has also introduced Ranger FX4 2.2 Hi-Rider as a new submodel. It is based on the currently-selling XLT trim and comes with a price tag of 899,000 baht (RM124k), which is 30,000 baht (RM4.1k) more than the existing XLT.

Talking about the powertrain, Ranger FX4 comes equipped with a 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi motor, which is capable of churning out 160 hp of maximum power at 3,200 rpm and 385 Nm of peak torque at 1,600 to 2,500 rpm. The power is sent to the wheels via a six-speed conventional automatic gearbox. It now flaunts a set 18-inch black alloy wheels covered with 265/60 profile tyres.

Other design cues include new black front grille, black side mirror, black front and rear bumper, black door handles and fog lamp covers, black sports bar, as well as FX4 logos and decals around the car. Getting inside the car, you can find black leather upholstery along with contrast red stitching, and the same treatment is provided to the armrest and dashboard. Other than the features mentioned above, everything remains pretty much the same as the XLT.

2020 Ford Ranger FX4 specs sheet features six speakers, an eight-inch SYNC 3 infotainment system that supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 4.2-inch colour multi-info display, four-way powered front passenger seat, six-way powered driver’s seat, electrically foldable side mirrors, and leather-wrapped steering wheel. In addition to that, the buyer can choose between three color schemes - Arctic White, Meteor Grey, and True Red.

Moving on to Ranger Raptor, it now comes with a USB port integrated into the rearview mirror and new bi-LED headlamps. Also, the previous generation decals have been removed that were present on the side of the tailgate. The safety features include lane-keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with the car and pedestrian detection, and forward-collision warning system.
