2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia, Stelvio Quadrifoglio revealed

KUALA LUMPUR: Alfa Romeo has given a round of updates to the sporty Quadrifoglio iterations of the Giulia saloon and Stelvio SUV. The automaker unveiled the models in Europe as a part of its 110th-anniversary celebration. The new high-performance variants feature better safety enhancements, better equipment, and more stylish cues.

Outside, the designing tweaks include a new pair of LED tail lights with darker lenses, gloss black detailing, and 21-inch wheels for the Stelvio. The new models also have a new carbon fibre front grille, carbon fibre mirror caps, and a carbon fibre spoiler, all of which are designed by Mopar, the parts and accessories arm of FCA. The new color options include 6C Villa d’Este Red, Montreal Green, and GT Junior Ocra. However, the details like quad exhaust exits and yellow brake calipers are the same as the previous version.

Moving inside the cabin, where changes are extensive. To start with, a redesigned center console that is carved for greater visual impact and additional storage space. Then there is a new steering wheel and perforated leather and Alcantara sports seats. The other optional enhancements include Sparco sport seats built around a carbon fibre shell and red and green seat belts.

Not only this, but the Quadrifoglio trims also feature a new and exclusive 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment display, which offers a new design interface and connectivity services. The system comprises a feature called Performance Pages that displays the drivetrain-related parameters such as the turbo pressure, the real-time amount of power generated, and a chronometer.

Under the hood, both the models incorporate the same Ferrari-inspired 2.9-litre biturbo V6 petrol mill, producing 510 PS of maximum power and 600 Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through the quick eight-speed automatic transmission, which shifts in 150 milliseconds in Race mode.

For safety, the Giulia Quadrifoglio and Stelvio Quadrifoglio are now equipped with an advanced driver assistance system as standard. The system has been developed in collaboration with Bosch and offers Level 2 autonomous driving. It includes active blind spot assist, lane keep assist, active cruise control, traffic jam assist and highway assist, traffic sign recognition, intelligent speed control, and driver attention assist. The carried over bits are forward collision warning and the autonomous emergency braking.

The bookings for the refreshed Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio in Europe will open this summer. And for the price, we expect a small increase on account of the added features.
