2019 Tokyo Motor Show: Nissan introduces Ariya Concept, a new zero-emissions concept
KUALA LUMPUR: It’s just the first day of the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, and reports are already started coming about a lot of new launchs, concepts, and many more. Among all, the first day of the Tokyo-based major auto event has also witnessed a brand new zero-emissions concept from Nissan.
Yes, we are talking about Nissan Ariya Concept. Although it’s officially called a concept, it looks like the model is ready to hit the production line. The standard size side mirrors, conventional door handles, and the average size of wheels are the hints on the possibility of its near-production status.
Nissan Ariya Concept stands 1,630 mm tall, 4,600 mm in length, and 1,920 mm in width without the door mirrors. However, Nissan didn’t provide any figure for the wheelbase. The carmaker also didn’t reveal the details of the powertrain, except for the quick charging support. The vehicle will come with CHAdeMO DC quick charge support. It will be based on an all-new electric platform to bolster dual-motor drive configuration along with the all-wheel drive.
Moving to its look, the body of the concept car is painted in Suisei Blue color. The front-end features a coated and patterned grille. Above the grille, there are ultra-slim LED headlamps, which are linked by a black trim. On the corners of the bumper, there are vertical slits, which will also act like inlets. A silver trim marked wide intake is also found above the lower apron.
Nissan Ariya Concept sports five-spoke 21-inch aluminium wheels along with a low roofline that leads into the spoiler. The rear end looks more angular compared to the front. One can also find prominent haunches and sharp-wedged tailgate, which features a one-piece light blade.
In terms of other technical configuration, Ariya Concept will come with the brand’s ProPILOT 2.0 suite of driver assistance systems. The system includes Remote Park and navigated highway driving along with hands-off single-lane driving. The vehicle will also come with other connected services such as a Virtual Personal Assistance, Door to Door Navigation, and a Smart Route Planner.
