2017 Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 Spyder revealed at 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show

Kuala Lumpur: 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show is getting more and more heat this year, although summer is technically over in Europe. Temperatures unusually hiked at Sant’Agata, when the Italian Mogul revealed its all new 2017 Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 Spyder. Lamborghini finally revealed as expected the open-top version of the Huracan, bringing even more thrills and excitement to its potential customers. Its electrically operated fabric roof is indeed the major difference between this model and its fixed-top sibling.

“The Huracán LP 610-4 Spyder is the next chapter in the success story of the naturally aspirated V-10 Huracán and continues a Lamborghini tradition of open-air motoring,” Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann said at the reveal. “Its predecessor, the Gallardo Spyder, was the best-selling open top model in Lamborghini’s history—we expect the Huracán Spyder to exceed its predecessor in every way.

This time, the car's roof is an automated soft-top, which was earlier seen in the Gallardo Spyder. This new retractable top can be painted into three different hues namely black, brown and red fitting nicely into the Spyder’s silhouette while up. At the push of a button, it can be deployed or dropped away neatly in a compartment behind the seats in just 17 seconds, and it is designed to be operated at speeds of up to 50 kmph. Apart from it, there is also a separate function which also allows the driver to raise or lower the rear window. When the roof is down, this window continues to serve as a rear windshield.

Other additions to this new finesse include an integrated duct which helps to reduce turbulence during open top driving, dumping the lateral aerodynamic pulsations. Also for additional comfort there is a removable wind guard on either side of the cabin, which is said to improve comfort and allow for “conversations at high speeds”. And lastly there are also two new fins help to channel air flow to the engine.

The Italian maker has animated the latest offering with one of the last naturally aspirated masterpieces in its class. The 5.2-litre V10 breathing beneath the bonnet was out whooping power figures of 610hp just like its fixed-roof brother. This mammoth allows the Lambo Spyder to hit a century on the speedometer clock from zero in just 3.4 seconds and continues to escalate the needle till it hits a top speed mark of 324km/h (201mph).A seven-speed dual clutch transmission is coupled to equally distribute the power to the road via an all-wheel-drive system. The engine also features the latest technical updates, including the ‘cylinder-on-demand’ function combined with a ‘stop-start’ system. Lamborghini also claims an updated setup for the electronically controlled all-wheel drive system that allows for even better handling characteristics.
