2016 Proton Perdana unveiled in Filem Kapsul clip!
Kuala Lumpur: A promotional video has been released on the Facebook page of the local movie Filem Kapsul, giving us insights about most-awaited all-new Proton Perdana. In the clip, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed is seen walking out of the office towards Proton’s upcoming new flagship car and another scene with the Proton chairman seated in the driver’s chair.
The previous teasers and spy videos partially revealed the Proton’s front end design, this time we get full rear three quarter view of the sedan. As we’ve previously observed from spyshots, Proton has given the Perdana a striking layout with broad C-pillars and shallower angle for its rear glass house. The front facade of the car has hinted towards Proton's familiar design DNA, but the rear end features a new design with the exhaust outlet being integrated into the rear bumper.

The first scene in the clip gives us a glimpse of the Perdana’s front end design, which sports thick chrome wings that span the length of the grille. Other unique features are its distinctive bonnet design with centre contour lines and new wing mirrors with large integrated turn signals. Both the taillamps and the third brake light (placed on the boot lid) have been integrated with LEDs. At the rear end, you will see a thick chrome strip dominating the boot lid and number plate holder placed onto the rear bumper. The model will continue to use the Perdana name as per the current government-only model, as evident from the Perdana badge found on the lower right of the boot lid.
In the other scene, you will get a chance to see Perdana from a different angle. Inside, it looks very much similar to the Honda Accord, specially Perdana's upper dash design. Only change is in its white (or cream) steering wheel in place that matches the seats and upper cabin trim.

The all-new Proton Perdana is scheduled for a 2016 release. Earlier, Proton had acquired Petrona's engine technologies for RM63 million in 2012, which consisted of direct injection, turbo direct injection tech and related patents. So we are expecting the Perdana to be launched with these powertrains or continue using the Honda Accord's 2.0-litre and 2,4-litre i-VTEC petrol engines.
For obvious reasons, this is not the final dictum about Proton Perdana, but then it's a good indication before the car's official launch. There are possibilities that the movie would have been shot earlier to be released tomorrow so Proton could have made some changes to the design since then.
