2016 Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S facelift revealed ahead of Frankfurt Show
Kuala Lumpur: Finally, the next chapter of Porsche 911 Carrera blows in, it marks a new beginning for the company's most valued car. Porsche 911 is an arguably perfect creature and the new tweaks have only added more panache to the story. The fastidious German manufacturer has been spending more than half century to refine this product, but there is always a room for improvement, right?
The latest improvements to the 991-generation 2016 Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S facelift includes turbocharged engines and minor physical alterations ahead of the pair’s physical debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The powertrain is tweaked a lot, but there will not be many observable changes on the exteriors of the car, which was expected. Although, there have been some new additions on the exteriors as well, which includes the front end receiving new headlights with four-point LED daytime running lights, new wheel designs, integrated door handle recesses, redesigned taillights and most noticeably, a reworked rear deck lid with vertical louvres.

Coming beneath the bonnet, the story changes drastically, The most significant upgrade is to be found in the facelift for the first time is the turbo 3.0 litres flat-six engine. The all new Carrera will produce a maximum power of 365 hp and 450 Nm of torque, while the same engine in the Carrera S will be churning out a maximum power of 414 hp and 500 Nm owing to its model-specific exhaust system and different tune for the engine management system.
The Porsche Carrera 911 now dispatches a 0-100 km/h figure in just 4.2 seconds whereas the Carrera S dips below the 4 second notch reaching out to 3.9 seconds with top speeds measuring at 295 km/h and 308 km/h for the Carrera and Carrera S, respectively. This figure was achieved using the Porsche’s indigenous seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission and Sports Chrono Package, as is rear-wheel steering. Along with that, a seven-speed manual transmission is standard in both models.
You will also observe an all new addition to the Sports Chrono Package added, the rotary driving switch mode on the steering wheel which you’ll find on modern Ferraris. This switch enables to choose from Normal, Sport, Sports Plus and Individual, letting drivers select different models on the PASM active dampers which are now a standard across the range. According to the company claims, these changes have resulted in a record Nurburgring lap time of just 7:30.
Coming inside the cockpit, the Carrera and Carrera S features a limited upgrade. Apart from the revised steering wheel with a rotary switch and a new Porsche Communication Management infotainment system. These cars feature a seven-inch touchscreen display integrated with a navigation platform featuring Google Earth, Google Streetview and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

Porsche claims that the base Carrera with PDK auto can attain a combined fuel economy of 16.24 kmpl, while the similarly equipped Carrera S manages a 15.6 kmpl The cars go on sale in December 2015.
